How have you been

“How have you been?” is a common question from native English speakers. It’s asking what you have been up to and how life has been for you from from a certain point in time. … Or maybe since the last time you spoke on the phone. Or it could also be since the last time you sent each other private messages online.

So What’s the Difference? The difference is that “How are you?” is in the present tense. … “How have you been?” is the present perfect tense. It means that I want to know what you’ve been doing since I saw you the last time.

The Meaning of The Question “How Have You Been”

They do this when asking how someone’s life has been going in general since a point in time (usually when you last spoke to each other). This question acknowledges that it’s been a long time since you last spoke and you need to catch up.

By saying ‘He has been good’, you mean that the person has been good for quite sometime in past and still he is. E.g: He has been doing good for past few days. This means, he has been doing good for past few days and still doing good.

Are both correct? Yes. The first can only be used on the same day of course. The second could be used the next day too in some situations, to refer to the previous one.

They Ask About Your Day

“If they are interested in you, they’ll be curious about you because they’re trying to figure you out,” Safran said. “If they ask about your day, they want to get more of a feel for what’s going on in your life.”

Ask her what’s she’s been binging on today or tell her your favorite show right now. Then you can segue into low-key flirting over text. If the rapport and confidence are already there, you could even respond by suggesting you go do something together.

means “that’s just the way it is“

Ask a question.

If you are trying to get a longer response from her, ask her a question that has more than a one-word answer. You can even turn it into something flirty. Ask her something like: “What is your idea of a perfect date, and why?” This puts the idea of romance in her head and requires a longer response.
