Manchester United has reached an agreement with Feyenoord for Tyrell Malacia and is now on the verge of making their first acquisition of the summer transfer season.
After making a last-minute drive to sabotage Lyon’s deal for the defender, United and the talented left-back have reached an initial agreement on a price of £13 million.
Malacia is expected to make his Premier League debut under Erik ten Hag, who has identified his countryman as a player who can push and contend with Luke Shaw in the coming season.
The 22-year-old was enrolled in Feyenoord’s academy system at the age of nine. He was born in Rotterdam to a Curacaoan father and a Surinamese mother.

In a 2017 Champions League match against Napoli, the 18-year-old earned his senior debut, playing the full ninety minutes in a 2-1 victory over the Italian team at De Kuip. In all competitions, he made 11 appearances by the end of that season, a total that has since increased season after season.
Malacia helped Feyenoord to a runners-up finish in the Europa Conference League last season and was chosen to the tournament’s Team of the Tournament after making 50 appearances for the Dutch team.
