How fast can i run

The average running speed is around 8mph for a man. And an average speed of 6.5mph for women. This is a comfortable gauge for most people, and they would be able to sustain this for a while before needing to stop.

Humans could perhaps run as fast 40 mph, a new study suggests. Such a feat would leave in the dust the world’s fastest runner, Usain Bolt, who has clocked nearly 28 mph in the 100-meter sprint. The new findings come after researchers took a new look at the factors that limit human speed.

The human frame is built to handle running speeds up to 40 miles per hour, scientists say. The only limiting factor is not how much brute force is required to push off the ground as previously thought, but how fast our muscle fibers can contract to ramp up that force.

Now, all that said, here is a general guideline on treadmill speeds: for most people 2 to 4 mph will be a walking speed; 4 to 5 mph will be a very fast walk or jog; and anything over 5 mph will be jogging or running.

They found that, 67.13 meters into the race, Bolt reached a top speed of 43.99 kilometers per hour (27.33 miles per hour). He finished with a time of 9.76 seconds in that race, but research has suggested that, with his body type, he probably shouldn’t even be competitive at that distance.

No. The world record in the mile has dropped from 3:59.4 in 1954 by Roger Bannister to about 3:45 in 60 years. The body is set up to run aerobically in distance events and then anaerobic metabolism takes over. The problem is anaerobic (without oxygen) is very inefficient compared to aerobic metabolism.

Yes, 15mph is very fast for a runner as it equates to a 4-minute mile. 15mph represents the fastest a human can run, with extensive training, for a distance of 1 mile to 2 miles. Sprinters can run faster, but obviously for a much shorter duration.
