McGraw and Faith Hill, a fellow country musician, were married in 1996; the couple has three daughters. They are the proud proprietors of the exclusive Bahamas island known as Goat Cay. They call it L’île d’Anges with love. McGraw has posted images of himself taking part in fishing activities on the island to his Instagram account.
McGraw was raised believing that Horace Smith was his biological father and was unaware of his true paternity. He didn’t find his birth certificate until he was 11 years old, while he was looking through his mother’s wardrobe for a school assignment.
This discovery led his mother to tell him who his biological father was and made their first encounter possible. Tug McGraw initially denied having any relationship with McGraw for seven years, up to the time the singer reached 18; following that, they grew close and remained so until Tug’s death in 2004.
Even before knowing of his father’s professional baseball career, McGraw had a talent for sports as a youngster, especially baseball. During his time in high school, he also participated in the FFA (Future Farmers of America).
Following his graduation, McGraw joined the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, played baseball for Northeast Louisiana University, and went on a baseball scholarship. Sadly, a knee injury he got while playing collegiate baseball ended his ambitions of becoming a professional athlete.
