Natalia Lach-Lachowicz passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022, at age 85. However, the cause of death is obscure to the public.
Natalia LL’s death was announced by The President of the ZW Foundation, Mateusz Kozieradzki on Facebook.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Natalia LL passed away this morning. She was and will always remain one of my closest people. We not only worked together, but also made friends. She will inform you about the date and time of the funeral soon” – he wrote.
Natalia Lach-Lachowicz was a Polish artist who dealt with painting, photography, drawing, performance, and video art.
She was born on April 18, 1937 in Zabłocie, Żywiec, Poland.
Natalia Lach-Lachowicz studied at the State College of Fine Arts (nowadays Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts) in Wrocław from 1957 to 1963. In 1964 she received a Diploma from the Association of Polish Art Photographers.
In 1970, she co-founded PERMAFO, an artists’ group and gallery, with Zbigniew Dłubak and Andrzej Lachowicz.
Since 1975 she was engaged in the international feminist art movement and took part in various symposia and exhibitions.
Following a critical sickness in the late ’70s, the artist turned her focus from consumerism and pornography to mythological topics.
Between 2004 and 2013, Natalia LL worked as a senior lecturer at the University of Fine Arts in Poznań.
In May 2007, she was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis. She received the Katarzyna Kobro in 2013 and was honored in 2018 with the Rosa Schapire Art Prize.
In 2018, the ZW Foundation was founded to preserve the works of Natalia LL as well as to provide a “place for exchanging scientific ideas and creative thoughts”.
Natalia LL’s husband Andrzej Lachowicz died on December 30, 2015 in Wrocław, Poland.
