Joanne Rowling is a British author, screenwriter and philanthropist known by her pen name J. K. Rowling.
She wrote a seven-volume children’s fantasy series, Harry Potter, which has won several awards and sold more than 500 million copies.
J.K Rowling is currently married to Neil Murray, a Scottish doctor.
The couple has two children, David Gordon Rowling Murray and Mackenzie Jean Rowling Murray.
How did JK Rowling meet Neil Murray?
JK Rowling and Neil Murray met in 2001, a year after Neil’s divorce from ex-wife, doctor Fiona Duncan.
Neil Murray was a friend of JK Rowling’s sister. Rowling resisted being set up, thinking their relationship would be complicated since he was also just out of marriage then.
“He was just out of a marriage himself—I just thought that would be complicated. I wasn’t up for that.”
Ultimately, they found themselves seated next to each other at a charity event in Edinburgh.
The vet’s son Dr. Neil Murray fell for multi-millionaire Harry Potter author Rowling.
The couple married on December 26, 2001, in a private ceremony at her home, Killiechassie House in Scotland.
