How did Flume start music? Where did Flume study music?

Flume grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and began composing music at the age of 11, with a basic DJ and mixing program CD for Windows.

Flume attended Seaforth Public School for primary school and St Augustine’s College, Brookvale, and Mosman High School for secondary school. Flume has remixed songs from such artists as Lorde, Sam Smith, Arcade Fire, Hermitude, and Disclosure.

Harley Edward Streten, known professionally as Flume, is an Australian Grammy award-winning and platinum-selling musician, DJ, and music producer widely considered a pioneer of future bass who helped popularise the genre.

In 2011, Flume’s track “Possum” received its first radio play on Triple J Unearthed. He submitted three original tracks—”Sleepless,” “Over You,” and “Paper Thin”—to an artists’ competition managed by Future Classic, an Australian record company.

In 2012, Flume released his self-titled debut studio album, “Flume”, which garnered critical acclaim, topped the ARIA Albums Chart, and achieved double-platinum status in Australia.

Flume’s mixtape “Hi This Is Flume” (2019) showcased his boundary-pushing creativity. His third studio album, “Palaces” (2022), further explored new sonic territories.
