As far as we know, Bill Tidy has not died. The web portals and social media have not announced anything regarding his death for now. He has been in declining health in recent years after two major strokes.
We found that his daughter Sylvia recently took to the media to share that the ill cartoonist Bill waited almost 24 hours at the Leicester Royal Infirmary’s accident and emergency department (A&E). The 88-year-old Tidy had a serious chest infection and was taken to the Midlands hospital in an ambulance.
But, Tidy had to wait in the vehicle before being admitted to the hospital. And instead of getting a fast approach and treatments from the medical professionals, he had to wait for almost a day on Wednesday, July 20, after arriving in an ambulance because of a shortage of hospital beds.
According to his family, the cartoonist had to wait in both the emergency van and A&E area, which as a result, caused him distress and exhaustion. After initially waiting for several hours in the back of an ambulance, he had to wait until the next day when a ward bed became available.
Bill Tidy’s son Robert waited with him and reportedly made a number of requests to have a bed ready and available for his sick dad but to no avail. But, he was continuously told by the hospital staff that none of the beds were available then.
They did not give up and waited overnight, and even after being throughout the night, Tidy’s family said he was eventually given a mobile stretcher. But, that stretcher was too small to keep his feet on the following morning, and his daughter Sylvia described this situation as completely unacceptable.
