HBO brought forward “House of the Dragon” this August 21 to positive reviews and colossal commotion among its viewers.
The new series is set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” which had hooked its fans to the screen from 2011 to 2019. House of the Dragon will focus on the journey of the Targaryen family as they start ruling Westeros.
It will cover the Targaryen civil war known as the “Dance of the Dragons.” Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen is one of the main characters this time as she will compete against her uncle Daemon Targaryen to claim the Iron Throne.
House Of Dragon Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen Family Tree: Her Mother Aemma And Father Viserys Targaryen
The unconventional family relationship in Game of Throne was one of the intriguing topics in the series.
Serving as the hit show’s prequel, “House of the Dragon.” also features some interesting and strange family relationships. It can be said that the Targaryen madness started at the first of the family tree.
This August, the new HBO series will see a civil war in the royal family of dragon riders as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen makes her move to the throne.
King Viserys I Targaryen is the core reason to start the civil war as the fight ensues between the princess, her heir apparent uncle, Daemon Targaryen, and later her younger half-brother, Aegon II, for his throne.
Rhaenyra is the daughter and only child of King Viserys I and his first wife, Aemma. Meanwhile, her uncle Prince Daemon is the younger son of Prince Baelon Targaryen and a brother of King Viserys I.
Rhaenyra marries Daemon later, and he becomes the second husband of the Targaryen queen. They will have three children, Aegon, Viserys, and Visenya.
Meanwhile, the series will also see other important characters like Princess Rhaynes, whose stance as a woman brought her down from claiming the Iron throne, UK News confirms.
However, her niece, Rhaenyra’s rise to the throne and its challenge regarding her gender as a female is another reason for the civil war.

How Is Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen Related To Daenerys Targaryen?
Daenerys Targaryen, the Khaleesi, shook the Game of Throne fandom with her powerful character development and bond with the Iron Throne.
As her surname suggests, Khaleesi was a true Targaryen since she was born into the incestuous marriage between her “Mad King” father and mother, Queen Rhaella.
Such incestuous lineage is the identity of the Targaryen family, of which Princess Rhaenyra is a part. However, HBO’s new princess did not come from the same fate as Daenerys.
The late Daenerys and Rhaenyra do not share a direct bloodline but are distant cousins.
A family tree by Devin Tart confirms that the Khaleesi came from the Targaryen family started by Eagon V, whose son Aerys II succeeded the throne and married his blood sister, Rhaella.
Though their ancestry is quite distant given the 200 years of timeline, both princesses share a lot in common, as Town and Country Magazine puts it forward.
From their strong dragon riding trait, speaking High Valyrian, and ruling a bloodthirsty army, Daenerys and Rhaenyra are considered to be somewhat similar characters in the HBO universe.

Role of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen Is Portrayed By Two Actors Including Emma D’Arcy
While Emilia Clark nailed her character as the Khaleesi, the same is expected by the two actresses portraying the Iron Throne ruler, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.
The August 21’s episode saw both actors, Emma D’Arcy and Milly Alcock, giving their best to match the princess’s character, Radio Times reports.
Milly portrays the younger Rhaenyra, while Emma will follow in for her adult part. The former is a 22-year-old actor from Sydney known for her role as Meg in the Tim Minchin comedy-drama, “Upright.”
On the other hand, Emma D’Arcy is known for their role in “Truth Seekers” alongside Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. They are 30 as of 2022 and have been a part of notable series, including “HANNA” and Netflix’s “Wanderlust.”
“House of the Dragon” will return for its second episode on August 28 and will have ten episodes for its first season.
Viewers have showered positive responses and praise for the cast’s exhibition of their characters.
