Hop Along – Biography,
The indie rock band was founded in 2004 as an acoustic folk freak solo project with the name “Hop Along, Queen Ansiels”. It was founded by high school student Frances Quinlan and grew out of her passion and optimism for rock music. After its inception, Frances went on to release her debut album titled Freshman in the summer of the following year 2005.
After performing solo acts for a few more years, the talented singer and guitarist opened the door for more people to join her. As a result, his brother Mark Quinlan came on as drummer in 2008 and the following year Tyler Long (a bassist) also joined the band. In the wake of the new line-up, the trio decided to change their name from Hop Along, Queen Ansiels to Hop Along, which they still carry to this day.
Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, the rock band has released four albums and several EPs. Their debut EP titled Misérables was released in 2009 and it became a hit shortly after its release. Three years later, they released their first full-length album, Disavow. The album was released in May 2012 and was able to garner positive reviews from critics and the independent music press. After the success of their debut album, the band’s popularity began to rise, bringing them to the attention of popular record labels who offered lucrative recording deals for the band. The band also welcomed fellow member Joe Reinhart (a guitarist) the same year.
Towards the end of 2014, Hop Along later signed on with Saddle Creek Records who would later produce their subsequent albums. In 2015, the rock band released another full album titled Painted Closure. Just like their previous efforts, the new album, which was released on May 4, 2015, also garnered a very positive and critical response from press and fans.
They got their breakthrough in 2018 when their fourth album was released. Their album titled Support your head, dog was released on April 6, 2018. After the release of the highly successful album, their single Comme c’est simple from the album appeared on various streaming sites where it witnessed views and massive downloads to date.
