Oyo State’s Police Command has made nine arrests related to the death of Hakeem Mudashiru, a grassroots mobilizer for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo town.
Mudashiru was murdered with a machete on Wednesday in his father’s home by assailants who may have been affiliated with a rival political party.
The arrest of the suspects on Thursday in Ibadan was, however, confirmed by SP. Adewale Osifeso, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Oyo State.
According to Osifeso, the suspects in the murder case have been detained.
He claims the State Criminal Investigation Department is currently looking into the matter.
According to Osifeso, initial evidence suggests the deceased was attacked by thugs with whom he had a confrontation before his death.
According to his father, Jimoh Agala, “one Hakeem Mudashiru, 40 years, was killed at random on Wednesday at about 1.35 p.m. at Durbar Divisional Police Headquarters, Oyo State.”
Osifeso stated that police personnel had been sent to the area to restore order.
The police department has promised to keep the public informed.
