First Aid Kit is back even with more power with their latest song titled “Angel.” The lyric starts with I’ve been afraid all of my life.”
We heard the First Aid Kit’s song “Strange Beauty,” back in 2019, which was a tribute to the late David Berman. The song comprises Johanna and Klara Soderberg. 2018.’Ruins’ was their most recent studio album.
However, since 2019, they have put out a few covers, such as an older rendition of Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” and a version of Ted Gärdestad’s “Come Give Me Love.” It feels special to release a song after such a long break, First Aid Kit said of the new song, which is accompanied by a Mats Udd-directed video.
For sure it’s not only them who feel special to release the song, the fans must feel the same about their return. The messages on Twitter show how their new song has been welcomed.

The singers stated, that on June 22, 2022, we’re very happy to finally present “Angel,” a song about accepting others even if you don’t always agree with them. It’s a positive song for the wild times. Optimistic songs can always be motivating.
Accepting ourselves is not always easy, just like the lyrics stated, “I’ve been afraid all of my life, Crippled with anxiety, shame and doubt, and Sometimes at times, I’d like to shout, At the top of my lungs and just let it out.”
Those who are struggling in their life to accept themselves and others even though they do not agree with the second person would find this song perfect for them. The duo hip hop artists wanted to put this song this way.
Being kind to ourselves is also a part of the song. The singers wanted it to feel both powerful and vulnerable at the same time so that the listeners could dance and cry to it at the same time. Fear will never do good to anyone. It can hold back every step that might be important to take in life.
So, the song suggests it would be better to shout out and let the fear go. Everybody has an angel within, we just need to look inside and set ourselves free. A trans woman has commented on social media that as the song inspires, accepting herself as a third gender became a huge part of her life. What a tremendous meaningful song, isn’t it?
Know First Aid Kit Band Members And Their Relationship
The Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit is made up of the identical twins Johanna and Klara Söderberg, who were born in 1990 and 1993, respectively. They have a drummer, a pedal steel guitarist, and a keyboardist playing with them when they perform live.
They garnered some online recognition in 2008 with their cover of “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” by Fleet Foxes. Before releasing their debut album, “The Big Black and the Blue,” in 2010, they originally gained attention in 2008 with their cover of Fleet Foxes “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song.”
The duo gained fame mostly as a result of the country-tinged songs of “The Lion’s Roar” (2012), which were later perfected in “Stay Gold” (2015). These two Indie Folk fans have established themselves as crucial ambassadors for the genre around the globe thanks to their expertise and love of far-off places.
Their friendship possesses deeper values than that of siblings as other sisters do. They are together for fourteen years sharing stages, hotels, tours, and more importantly the common dreams that they are fulfilling through “First Aid Kit.”
Why Did First Aid Kit Take A Hiatus?
In 2019, due to “unforeseen medical problems,” First Aid Kit canceled the entire summer tour. The sisters shared the cancellation message through social media, however, they didn’t mention what exactly the medical condition was.
But they stated that all would be okay and they look forward to seeing them. Along with various performances in the US and Europe, the pair was scheduled to perform at All Points East on June 2 and Glasgow SWG3 on May 31, 2019.
The sisters started their musical career at an early age so they thought a hiatus is required to freshen up. As per Karla, she was just burnt out due to a reckless musical tour and all.
Johanna was initially “a little annoyed; she has more of a drive than I do,” according to Klara, but the fact that Klara made Johanna stop working on the project helped Johanna realize how fatigued she was as well.
