Highest Scoring College Football Game Since 2000

Most points scored in a football game by one team college is Georgia Tech with a 222-0 win over Cumberland. The match took place on 7 October 1916.

Coach John Heisman was leading Georgia Tech back then. The Heisman Trophy was named after him.

Such a feat has never been repeated to date. Cumberland discontinued their football program before the start of the 1916 season but did not tell the Engineers.

Heisman insisted that the game must go on or else he would hold the team to forfeit $3000 as compensation, which was considered a large sum of money at that time. So, the team decided to play.

The first quarter of the game gave the Tech 63-0 lead and on reaching the first half, the scoreboard noted a massive increase up to 126 while the opponents were on null.

One of its famous halftime talks of Heisman quotes “We’re ahead, but you just can’t tell what those Cumberland players have up their sleeves. They may spring a surprise. Be alert, men.” The time was shortened to 12 minutes from 15, but the points did not stop.

Highest Scoring College Football Game Since 2000

Rockford 105-0 victory over Trinity Bible on 6 September 2003 is the highest-scoring college football game since 2000. It was played at Sam Greeley Field.

In that game, Marcus Howard ran for 334 yards and scored five touchdowns from 28 carries. Isaac Holloway, the backup running back for the team, rushed for 78 yards and four touchdowns.

These two players added the most to the team scoreboard. Rockford only went for two passing attempts in the first quarter and both of them made TDs of 40 and 44 yards.

On the team’s record-breaking win, the head coach of Rockford Mike Hoskins quoted, “You hate to see a score get like that, but when you play all of your people and don’t even throw the football there’s not much else you can do.”

The recent high score in a single game before that was the 101-0 point score of Central State against Lane on October 28, 1989, which took place in Wilberforce.

Most points scored by Oregon Ducks football

Oregon Ducks football highest point game was 114-0 in 1910 while playing against Puget Sound. A single player went for 56 points in that game.

Back then, the team was known as Oregon Webfoots until the mid-1960s. That was the name of the football team representing Oregon University. It was their 17th season of college football and they used to compete independently in the competition.

It was a proud moment for head coach Bill Warner who was leading the team at that time. The date marked 22 October when the Webfoots were facing Puget Sounds at Kincaid Field Eugene, OR.

That season, the team did not meet their present-day biggest rival Washington or Washington State, and got 4 wins and a single loss out of five games played.

Their only loss was against Multnomah Athletic Club where the Webfoot’s got 0 points and the Multnomah scored 5. The match took place in Multnomah Field in Portland.

Oregon Ducks Football’s highest score is an 81-7 win over the Portland State Vikings in the recent match played on 2 September 2023. It is also the CFB record since 2015.

In that game, Bo Nix went for 287 Passing Yards and 3 touchdowns, Irvings got 119 Rushing Yards and two touchdowns and Franklin went for 106 Receiving Yards and 2 TDs.

The Ducks in total had 729 yards and 38 first downs. Oregon was leading during all four quarters and got an impressive victory at the end.

To date, the Ducks hold a record of 19 consecutive wins in home openers and 31 consecutive victories in non-conference home games.
