As per The Cinemaholic, Mallory is a journalist who accompanies Ben to test the nuclear reactor in 1962. The reactor explodes and kills everyone in that leap before Ben can figure out what to do.
However, Ben returns to the same place at the same time that he left off. He gets four more chances to leap to everyone else’s body to prevent the explosion of the bomb.
When Ben leaps to Mallory’s body, he learns that the journalist knew the truth and she was collecting evidence to expose the scientist, Dr. Woosley who made the nuclear reactor.
The character of Kuan as Mallory helped expose the nuclear weapon-making facility behind the facade of a research facility for sustainable energy.
When Ben figures out the truth, he prevents the explosion and Mallory ends up writing about the expose on the place. Then, Ben breaks the loop and jumps to another to complete other tasks.
