High School TV Show Freevee Release Date, Time, Cast, Plot and more

At the Toronto International Film Festival, High School will have its international premiere. The first four episodes will air on October 14, 2022, and fresh episodes will be made accessible on Amazon Freevee every Friday after that.

Tegan and Sara, teenage twin sisters, are the subject of Amazon’s High School, a true coming-of-age story. Hollywood and coming-of-age stories have a long-standing partnership.

They appeal to audiences of a wide range, from The Breakfast Club to Lady Bird to The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The problems frequently involve issues with high school, parents, friends, or romantic relationships not an uncommon theme in movies.

Coming-of-age tales, on the other hand, depict these struggles as a means for characters to address more significant, audience-relatable issues.

High School TV Show Freevee Release Date & Time

High School will make its debut in the world and new episodes will be released on Amazon Freevee every Friday beginning on October 14, 2022, at 12 a.m. Pacific Time.

The first four episodes of the show will be released, and thereafter new episodes will air every week. There will be 8 episodes in all. Freevee revealed the trailer during its portion of the TV Critics Assn. press tour on Friday.

The Emmy and Academy Award-winning Plan B Entertainment and Amazon Studios jointly produce the TV show. Clea DuVall, Tegan and Sara Quinn, Laura Kittrell, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Carina Sposato served as executive producers.

In addition, Duvall and Kittrell serve as co-writers and the primary showrunners. This uneasiness can even be understood as simply teenage angst thanks to DuVall’s compassionate directing and personal style, creating a broad safety net of support for the film’s star newcomers.

Since the series’ half-hour episodes are divided into two different points of view, intimacy is where the show excels since it allows for incredibly introspective glances at these individuals, which are displayed across what practically act as 15-minute vignettes inside the series’ episodes.

The eight-episode drama series is based on Tegan and Sara Quin’s 2019 memoir of the same name, and it explores the twin sisters’ experiences of growing up in the 1990s and discovering their individual identities.

High School TV Show Freevee The Cast

High School, which is based on their best-selling memoir of the same name, follows Canadian performers Tegan and Sara as they negotiate physical appearance, sisterhood, and music. It tells the backstory of their platinum albums and sold-out tours.

Tegan and Sara also serve as Executive Producers. High School has an intentionally constrained scope, focusing on the subtle emotions and profound loneliness that shaped Tegan and Sara’s actual high school experiences, in contrast to most biopics, which frequently skip the performers’ poor beginnings to speed straight into their success narrative.

In Amazon’s High School, two identical girls’ 1990s experiences are depicted in detail. The two ladies complete high school and go on to form the well-known musical duo “Tegan And Sara” in the midst of the flannel, baggy clothing, grunge music, and ’90s cultural upheaval.

A Canadian pop duet named Tegan and Sara has been performing for almost thirty years. The sibling group has performed on both domestic and foreign tours, received Grammy nominations, released nine studio albums (to date), won GLAAD, Juno, and Studio8 awards, and has long supported the LGBTQ+ community.

The sisters’ writing of an award-winning biography, which served as inspiration for an impending limited streaming series, was in addition to their musical careers and activism.

Everything You Need To Know About The TV Shows High School

Finding the ideal Tegan and Sara for High School was a difficult task. Producer Laura Kittrell described how the showrunners came across Railey and Seazynn Gilliland in an interview with Collider.

“We saw a lot of individuals, including a lot of decent people, but when Tegan found these two using the TikTok algorithm and brought us the video, we said, “They’re very cute, but definitely not.

They haven’t performed before. It appears impossible. Then we actually had them audition, and it was apparent that they were amazing.

They then put in a ton of work with an acting coach and music instructors before attending a piece of real music and acting boot camp. I believe there was a feeling of, “Okay, this entire thing can fall apart if they can’t do it,” on the first day of filming.

Then, from the very first instant, it was apparent that it would succeed. It is going to work. They continued to improve over the entire season, and I’m quite pleased with them.

High School’s Plot Summary

The premise of High School is quite similar to the 2019 memoir, according to the official synopsis from Amazon Studios.

“High School is a story about coming to terms with who you are, a process that is compounded by the presence of a twin whose struggles and self-discovery are so similar to your own.

The story swings between parallel and conflicting memories of twin sisters growing up across the hall from one another against the backdrop of ’90s grunge and rave culture.”

The eight-episode television series centers on two twin sisters who struggle to separate themselves from one another as they grow up in the 1990s. Tegan and Sara split up socially when they both begin the school year at new institutions.

While one of the twin starts dating, the other makes friends with a bunch of youngsters from the alternative, “grunge” generation. The twins struggle to improve their friendship with one another and their independence from one another while they pursue separate lives.

Both sisters discover a shared love for making music throughout the series, and they use it to connect (much like the real-life Tegan And Sara).

High School’s Ending Explained

High School, albeit the story of this musical pair, feels timeless because it is a tale about family, and belonging.

Even though ’90s nostalgia has recently been more popular, this show avoids idealization in favor of portraying the period’s worst aspects, particularly in light of the protagonists’ struggles with their own identities.

High School is a show that can live without this famous band, despite being a meaningful and heartfelt portrayal of them. It’s both ideal for devoted Tegan and Sara fans and incredibly approachable for people who haven’t listened to a single one of their songs.

High School feels like another brilliant addition to what is left of their representation on television in a year that has seen many beloved programs taken away from LGBT fans.
