For her brave effort in the 2022 Russia-Ukraine conflict, President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded her the title of Hero of Ukraine on Sunday, 13 March.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to attack Ukraine has led to the loss of many lives, both civilians and military personnel.
According to a recent report from Ukraine’s government, at least 2,187 people died in the coastal city of Mariupol. And the International Red Cross Committee warned the civilians still trapped there were running out of time.
Likewise, Lviv regional governor Maksym Kozytsky reported that nine people died as Russian forces fired more than 30 rockets at the Yavoriv military facility. Similarly, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, tweeted that a U.S. journalist died in Ukraine Sunday.
Two weeks into the conflict, there have been unsuccessful peace talks.
Death And Obituary: Hero of Ukraine Sergeant Derusova Inna Nikolaevna
Sergeant Derusova Inna Nikolaevna died on duty.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine led to many deaths, and the sergeant is one of them.
Although her life was at risk, Inna reportedly saved the lives of over ten military personnel. The senior combat medic had been serving in Okhtyrka, Sumy region, since 24 February 2022. The enemy artillery killed her while she was helping the injured.
On 13 March 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Sergeant Inna the title of Hero of Ukraine (Posthumously) for her exemplary courage and bravery. She became the first woman to receive the highest honor conferred upon an individual in her country.
The President announced the news through his official Telegram channel.
Besides her, 105 other servicemen of the Armed Forces received coveted honor, and out of which, 16 received posthumously.
Since Inna’s death news, thousands of people online have written their tribute to the brave soldier on social media. And like them, we hope her soul finds peace.
As for her funeral, the details, including the date and venue, remain unknown.
