Erik Stephen Schmitt is an American politician and lawyer who has, since 2019, served as the 43rd Attorney General of Missouri.
Before this role, he was the 46th State Treasurer of Missouri from 2017 to 2019. This role was preceded by his role as a member of Missouri State as the representative of Missouri’s 15th State Senate District from 2009 to 2017.
His political connections run even more profound as he served as an alderman for Glendale, Missouri, from 2005 to 2008 as one of two aldermen for Ward 3.
He was named as the 43rd Attorney General of Missouri on November 3, 2018, by Governor Mike Parson, after Josh Hawley, the incumbent, was elected to the United States Senate.
After a year in the role, on November 3, 2020, Schmitt was elected to serve a full four-year term as the attorney general of Missouri. In March 2021, he announced his candidacy for U.S. Senator from Missouri 2022.
Even now, he is a big Trump supporter and was one of the Republicans who joined in on claiming fraud when Trump lost. Another of his deeds was filing lawsuits to invalidate the Affordable Care Act, and school districts and municipalities sued for implementing mask requirements during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Who Is Eric Schmitt Wife, Jaime Schmitt?
Eric Schmitt is married to his wife of over 20 years, Jaime Schmitt.
The two met in their mutual alma mater, Truman State University. Schmitt had initially visited the college due to his interest in football while in his senior year at De Smet Jesuit High School.
He fell in love with the place and decided to attend there. As a student on campus, Schmitt played football for a year and basketball for two years and also grew an interest in organizations like Habitat for Humanity.
He was a founding member of Truman’s Habitat for Humanity chapter and met a fellow student called Jaime Forrestor while serving in the organization.
The two instantly fell in love, and Truman stated that he knew he wanted to marry Jaime since he met her. Following their graduation, he proposed to Jaime during Homecoming at the exact location where they first met. They currently live in Glendale with their three children.
Besides meeting Jaime, Truman was essential to Schmitt for another reason: a class called “American National Government,” which fostered his interest in politics and led to his becoming a political science major.
Schmitt would go on graduating Truman with a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in political science and receiving a scholarship to attend the Saint Louis University of Law, where he got his Juris Doctor in 2000.

His children are named Stephen, Sofia, and Olivia. They are ages 18, 15, and 13, respectively.

Because of this condition, Stephen regularly has seizures and epilepsy. When Schmitt’s son was only two years old, he endured a four-hour episode. According to Schmitt, helpless waiting while his son was in the emergency room was the most traumatic experience of his life.
Schmitt has credited feeling impotent when faced with his son’s disease as the driving impetus behind his journey to join politics.
