No, Thea is not leaving All American Homecoming in Season 2. However, she is leaving the tennis team to become a professional.
Nkechi Okoro Carroll’s sports drama All American: Homecoming debuted on February 21, 2022, on The CW. It is a spin-off of All American created by April Blair that premiered on October 10, 2018.
In May 2022, the drama was renewed for Season 2, which dropped on October 10, 2022.
The series profiles a young tennis player, Simone Hicks, and an elite baseball athlete, Damon Sims, as they face the high stakes in college sports. They are students of Bringston University.
The sports drama stars Geffri Maya as Simone, a tennis hopeful, and Peyton Alex Smith as Damon, a nationally-ranked high school athlete.
Kelly Jenrette, Cory Hardrick, Sylvester Powell, Camille Hyde, Mitchell Edwards, Netta Walker, and Rhoyle Ivy King also appear in the main cast. Kareem Lewis also appeared in three episodes of Season 1 in 2022.
Is Thea Leaving All American Homecoming?
No, Thea Mays is not leaving All American Homecoming Season 2. She is one of the main characters in Carroll’s sports drama series.
In episode 13, Simone and the Bringston tennis team were harassed at the police stop while on their way to the tournament.
They were having trouble with the officers pulling them over for no reason.
The next episode -E14 titled Stand Up for Something- aired on March 20, 2023. In this episode, Simone and the tennis team fight back by posting a video of the incident online.
Thea came back in this episode. Simone, Damon, and Nate kind of figured out the reason she wasn’t on the bus to go to the tournament. She didn’t join them in the game because she was going pro.
Everybody, especially the tennis team, is upset with her because she wasn’t present there and didn’t tell them she was going to leave the team to go pro.
Mays also felt distressed about her not being with the team in times of trouble. And as Hicks was talking to the other girls about everybody supporting them, she shows up and says, “you can count me as one of them.”
Thea admitted she handled going pro in the wrong way and that she should have told them by herself. She said she should have been there on the bus and could have helped.
However, Hicks says, “No, you couldn’t. That’s the worst part. No one could help us.” Thea ended up bringing professional tennis player Coco Gauff to earn the team’s trust back.
Keeping all this in mind, it doesn’t appear, Thea is leaving the drama any soon.
All American Homecoming Season 2 Episode 14 Recap
All American Homecoming Season 2 Episode 14 witnesses how Simone and the tennis team figure out to move forward.
In last week’s episode, the team was racially profiled during a police stop as they were heading to a tennis match. Officers pulled over their bus under the pretext of an illegal lane change.
Simone and her teammates were harassed by the police officers, who began searching their bags for weapons and drugs, despite no confirmation to suggest they would be in possession.
The police encounter left the young women traumatized and they were forced to forfeit their season as they couldn’t make it to their tennis match.
Determined to hold the officers accountable, the team posts a video of the encounter online.
In Monday’s episode, Simone organizes a rally when she finds out they can continue playing only if the team agrees to sign NDAS and stop protesting about the police stop.
But they don’t take the deal. The team then enlist Coco Gauff to help spread their message. Simone was really good throughout the episode, trying to help her teammates overcome the situation.
And though Thea ghosted the team at the time, she returned willingly to do anything to win back their trust.
All American: Homecoming marks the TV debut of tennis pro Gauff. The teenage sensation made a guest appearance on Episode 14 of the series. She also teased her debut in a Twitter post.
The next episode -E15 titled Diary- marks the season 2 finale episode. So stay tuned for the season finale airing on March 27.
