Poorna denies reports of dating Hemanth Menon
Poorna has denied reports appeared in few sections of the media, which claimed that she is in love with Malayalam actor Hemanth Menon and would enter wedlock with him soon.
“I have worked with him in ‘Chattakari’ and he is a good friend and colleague. There is nothing beyond this between me and him,” says the actress of ‘Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moondramandu’ fame.
The ‘Vithagan’ heroine also dubbed a false claim that she would convert herself to Hinduism to marry Hemanth. “I don’t know from where such baseless rumors crop up,” she says.
Originally from Kerala, Poorna is popular in Tollywood too, besides Kollywood. Her Mollywood film ‘Chattakari’ is a remake of a yesteryear flick.

Hemanth Menon doesn’t fit the bill: Shamna
Shamna Kasim is upset ‘ not because her biggest outing yet in Mollywood, ‘Chattakkari’, didn’t make it as big as she had expected it to, but because of the rumours doing the rounds about her alleged link-up with her co-star, Hemanth Menon. ‘I was shooting in Chalakudy for my next Tamil film, Arjunan Kadhali. Though I was aware of rumours doing the rounds that my Chattakkari co-star, Hemanth, and I are seeing each other, I didn’t find the need to clarify about such trivia, for, as actors, we’re used to hearing such gossip. But I was in for a shock when I switched on my phone once I was done with the day’s shoot,’ Shamna tells us from the sets of the film in Chalakudy. ‘Some of my relatives started calling up and told me that that the latest buzz is that I’m converting from Islam to Hinduism in order to get married to Hemanth. Now, that’s a little too much!’ says Shamna.
‘I’m friends with many actors across the southern film industry, who’ve been my co-stars too and with whom I share a great rapport. However, I don’t share such a relationship with Hemanth. We’re just what you’d call ‘hi-bye friends.’ How can I ever think of getting married to such a person, forget converting into his religion?’ she quizzes.
Interestingly, the lead pair of the 1974 film Chattakkari, which inspired the remake, went on to get married. ‘Maybe that’s one reason that fuelled this rumour. But just ‘coz actors Mohan and Lakshmi went on to tie the knot doesn’t mean that Hemanth and I are following suit,’ says Shamna. ‘We’ve just remade the cinema; our personal lives hardly draws inspiration from its plot. In fact, all through the shoot, I’d kid Hemanth saying, ‘I’m more senior than you in the industry.’ As a woman, I too nurture dreams about the one man with whom I’d be sharing my life. Hemanth hardly fits the bill,’ she asserts.
Meanwhile, the actress is happy with how things are shaping up at the workfront. ‘I’m thrilled about my latest Telugu release, Avunu, topping the charts,’ Shamna says of her first horror thriller, which had her try a hand at stunt sequences as well. She has also been signed on to play Ann Augustine’s part in the Tamil remake of the Malayalam superhit, Ordinary.
