Headgear: Why Does Gregory Porter Wear A Scarf?
The singer was born in California, USA, and rose to fame when he was about 40 years old.
Most people are enamored with his musical abilities, but fans can’t help but wonder why he wears a hat and a jumpsuit garment all the time.
Gregory has always kept his personal life private. However, he did admit to the Telegraph in 2016 that his “signature” headgear conceals the facial damage he had as a child.
The artist refers to the flat cap as his “security blanket” and “jazz hat.”
Furthermore, he elaborated, “I had some skin surgery,” Gregory explained, “so this has been my appearance for a while and will continue to be for a bit longer.”
“People now recognize me by it.” “It is what it is” is how he ended the conversation.
He did, however, tell the BBC that he wanted to be known for “less about my headgear and more about my heart and sound.”
