Harrison Mumia Age and Education
Mumia was born in 1978, in Nairobi which means he is at his early 40s of age. Harrison Mumia completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2003 at the Jomo Kenyatta University, Kenya. He is currently working with the Central Bank of Kenya as a Corporate Communications Manager. He is also pursuing a Masters in Corporate Communications at the Daystar University.
Harrison Mumia Family
Harrison Mumia, 41, grew up in a religious family. He went to church, attended Bible studies and was baptized. But when he was about 24 and a university student, he stopped believing. “Nothing happened to make me stop believing. I wasn’t walking one day and ‘saw the light’,” he says with a laugh. He just had too many questions around God, morality, creation, faith – questions that religious texts didn’t provide sufficient or convincing answers to.
Science gave him more convincing answers and that’s a reason he became an atheist. Harrison doesn’t think that you need to believe in God in order to have moral values. And that all the suffering in the world is not the devil at work; man is the source of evil. The creation theory is the belief that God created the universe from nothing, which he doesn’t believe in. He asks as other atheists do, how do you know God exists?.

Harrison Mumia Baptism- Latest News
On Monday, Daily Nation reported that Mumia had written to the Quakers Church in Kakamega seeking the revocation of his baptismal certificate. In the letter dated October 17, Mumia noted that he doesn’t want to be associated with Christianity in any way, adding that he was a Christian in the 2000s but he later changed his faith.
“I would like to formally renounce my baptism and membership in the Quakers Church, Kenya,” Mr. Mumia’s said in the letter. He argued that he did not consent to the baptism, adding that he was baptized before he became a teenager.“I was baptized at the Quakers Church at Makhokho Secondary School, Kakamega County during my pre-teen years without my consent,” he added.
He has now asked the church to recall all his records with immediate effect so that he is not linked to the church in any way. Mumia noted that atheists do not believe in the existence of a supreme being, adding that baptism is not their thing as well. His decision to renounce the church has already started eliciting mixed reactions from different quarters.
Nominated Makueni MCA Lynet Mbula Mutula wants Mumia to be given a media blackout for pushing for atheism in the country, arguing that he is misleading youth.
Harrison Mumia Wife
It is not clear if Mumia is married or engaged to any lady out there because as of now he has kept the details so personal. However, we are digging more into the details to reveal the lucky woman who would be dating this handsome Mulembe man.
Harrison Mumia Atheism
Through his experience as a leading atheist in Kenya, Mumia has worked together with local secular groups to push for a total separation of religion and state in Kenya. His articles have elicited public debate in the areas of religious education in public schools, preaching in public space especially in public transport vehicles and the authenticity of miracles by religious leaders. Inspired by atheists like Richard Dawkins, the late Christopher Hitchens, Mumia is committed to promoting secularism in Kenya.
Today, more than 80 percent of the 46 million residents of Kenya are Christian. The remaining 20 percent of the country is a combination of Islam, Hinduism, and traditionalists. And the word “atheist” is rarely uttered by your average Kenyan.
In Kenya, religious indoctrination and adherence to the Abrahamic faiths are deeply engrained into the culture. Children pray in public schools and orphanages, prayer takes place in the workplace, and Christian beliefs and practices are preached on all of the major Kenyan media outlets on a daily basis. One visit to the country and experiencing the culture may leave the impression that there is no hope for secularism here.
This is where Harrison Mumia and the Atheists in Kenya group come in. Mumia is pioneering the unthinkable. He is taking on the overwhelming task of challenging religious privilege by promoting secular and humanist values. Mumia and his team are openly secular and have appeared on many of the Kenyan media outlets, including the major newspaper and morning talk shows. They are working hard to bring many of the secular “firsts” to Kenya including the first-ever atheist conference, atheist billboards, debates and much more. They are a shining beacon of hope for secular ideals in a country that is grossly indoctrinated into a religion that was forced upon their country.

Harrison Mumia Fired
The Atheists Society of Kenya president Harrison Mumia was fired by the Central Bank of Kenya over gross misconduct.CBK accused the outspoken Mumia of insubordination, disobedience and violating the bank’s code of conduct that requires its employees to remain neutral on political affairs. In a letter signed by the bank’s acting human resource manager Terry Ng’ang’ a bank cites a number of tweets that Mumia sent for its action.
The HR manager termed the tweets as offensive to the bank’s rules and the law. In 2018 February 16, Mumia tweeted on the arrest of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter who allegedly traded in forged Treasury Bills valued at Sh633 million. The post is quoted below
“I thought MP Alfred Keter was in government. I thought ako ndaani ndaani. Mbona anashikwa na his government tena? [I thought he was an insider, why is then being arrested by his government?] As a Jubilee MP surely!!! Unless being in government is a myth! For those who voted for Jubilee, mko ndaani ya [you are in] government in what sense?” the tweet read.
The bank said the tweet was political and Keter was subject to an investigation by agencies including CBK, his employer.CBK said this qualified as insubordination. According to the bank, another of Mumia’s tweet on February 14 further compounded his expression of political preference. The HR manager indicated in the letter that they had written to Mumia in May 2017 over his outspoken political opinion and he (Mumia) pleaded for understanding.
The bank again warned him on July 24 last year, though Mumia persisted to post his political opinions on Twitter. Mumia was later suspended at half pay and told not to report for duty pending his response. The bank’s Discipline and Grievance Committee would later terminate his employment on May 11 last year. Mumia appealed the decision to ax him, but through a January 11 letter, the bank decided to uphold the committee’s decision.
However, the chief atheist took to Twitter on Tuesday evening protesting his innocence.”I have SOLID EVIDENCE that my account was hacked. I presented my evidence before the Disciplinary Committee headed by CBK Deputy Governor, Sheila MBIJIWE. Still, I was fired. They never bothered to look at my evidence,” he tweeted.
