Christopher Cline’s net worth, biography, fact, career, awards and life story

Christopher Cline net worth: Christopher Cline was an American businessman who had a net worth of $1.9 billion dollars at the time of his death in 2019. Born in Beckley, West Virginia, Christopher Cline grew up in a coal mining family. His grandfather had his own coal mining operation in West Virginia, and Mr. Cline was paid a penny a bag, for every bag he filled with dirt. The bags were then used for mine blasting. Later, his father gave him part of the family business. Chris left Marshall University to focus on the family business when he was 21, and grew it into one of the most successful coal mining companies in the world. His company, now called Foresight Energy, produces 20 million tons of coal a year. He is credited with reviving the coal mining industry in Illinois, and was often referred to as, “The New King of Coal”. One of his company’s primary investors is the Carlyle Group, and Foresight planned to go public in 2013, at a time when many other energy companies were faltering. That IPO did not end up happening and in 2015 he sold a stake in his firm to the Carlyle Group for $1.5 billion. Today Foresight Reserves, LP is owned by parent company The Cline Group, LLC. In 2011 Cline dated Elin Nordegren, the ex-wife of Tiger Woods. They met after she bought a property next door to his in Florida. Tragically, Chris Cline and six other people died on July 4, 2019 in a helicopter crash in the Bahamas. One of his children also died in the crash. He was 60 years old, but was turning 61 the next day.
