Several students, classmates, friends, or former GVSU students with the trauma of GVSU have died. Only in October of 2021 did two students perish.
Similarly, we cannot forget the death of Taylor DeRosa, whose cause of death is still under investigation or, let’s say have been forgotten.
She was a huge activist for various issues and spoke out about her beliefs. She stood firm and spoke her mind. However, she was yet another victim of GVSU.
Every month we hear the death of some students from GVSU, the university has still not done anything to prevent such tragic incidents.
However, Aaron Haight, acting vice provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students stated that the university had worked hard to prepare assistance and services for this situation.
Yet, no evidence of such activity can be seen.

As every situation is different, there isn’t necessarily one way to handle a situation. Still, our primary focus is ensuring that family and friends receive the assistance and resources they require”, said Haight.
The Counseling Center has also started to provide group sessions in various formats and topics. The grief support group is one of these group counseling sessions.
In addition, Emergency services are available to students who have an immediate need to speak with a professional. Students can come into the office or call for immediate assistance, said Haight.
If the program and the vision of the dean of students go according to plan, we hope we don’t have to hear such tragic news every other month.
