Gregory Peter Stephen “Greg” Alexander (born March 4, 1965 in Penrith, New South Wales) is a former professional rugby league player who has subsequently gone on to become a radio and television commentator as well as a well-known rugby league journalist. Originally a goal-kicking half-back, he led the Penrith Panthers and the Auckland Warriors throughout his career, as well as representing his nation and state on many occasions. Alexander played halfback for the most of his career, although he was switched to fullback early in his career, especially in representative teams. Alexander was selected for both the 1986 and 1990 Kangaroo Tours due to his ability to play a variety of positions with remarkable success. Aside from being one of the greatest halfbacks in the game and talented enough for rep football at fullback, Brandy got his chance on the wing during the 1990 Tour against France, scoring a try and celebrating with a spectacular gymnastics-style backflip. This was also his last appearance in a test.
