Grace and Frankie are on Bonida Drug smuggling voyage towards the final episodes of the Netflix show, but many of the viewers are asking is Bonida a real drug? Spoiler Alert

As the final twelve episodes of Grace and Frankie season 7 were released on Netflix on April 29, 2022, fans and followers are eagerly looking at all the shenanigans of the two women in their seventies, they have long taken the road towards crime.

Grace and Frankie travel to Mexico to sneak Bonida across the border in order to bring the Walden Villas residents their medication. “It may be drug smuggling, but it’s a righteous smuggle,” Frankie remarks in episode 7.

Let us learn more about Grace and Frankie Bonida Drug and take a closer look at if Bonida is a real drug.

Is Bonida On Grace and Frankie A Real Drug?

Bonida on Grace and Frankie is not a real drug.

However, the show portrays Bonida as a real drug needed by elderly people of Walden Villas residents.

While Boniva isn’t an actual drug, it is close to Bonida. According to WebMD, Boniva is used to prevent and cure some forms of bone loss (osteoporosis).

This medication works by slowing bone loss to help maintain strong bones and reduce the risk of broken bones (fractures). Ibandronate belongs to a class of medications called bisphosphonates.

Bonida seems to fit the plot as Grace and Frankie are trying to help elderly people get their medicine and they might have a bone loss problem in the show.

Final Season Sees Grace and Frankie Smuggle Drugs

As the final episodes of season 7 of Grace and Frankie have been released on Netflix, they show Grace and Frankie on a drug-smuggling voyage.

The two women on their seventies have crossed the border into Mexico to bring back Bonida.

According to The Focus, The eighth episode of Grace and Frankie (“The Bonida Bandidas”) sees the two titular women attempt to smuggle drugs out of Mexico.

Grace (Fonda) discovered Frankie’s stockpile of Bonida prescriptions, or a “s***load of Bonida prescription papers,” as Grace says, in the previous episode. When Frankie returns to Walden Villas, she discovers that many of the older residents require Bonida prescriptions.

Although Grace and Bonida make it across the border without incident, Frankie finds up (unwittingly) participating in another drug smuggling operation, leaving the audience with a cliffhanger.
