Gordon McQueen, a legendary football player, spent most of his life married to Yvonne, a devoted partner who supported him throughout his fight with vascular dementia. Yvonne chose to keep a low profile and avoid the spotlight, though. Following Gordon’s time as Middlesborough’s head coach, the pair settled in Hutton Rudby, North Yorkshire.
Gordon’s family made the decision to make a public statement after his passing. They expressed their desire in the statement that Gordon would be remembered for his wonderful personality as well as his illustrious football career.
They characterized their home as a place where there was always football, friends, and family around. This was true, even during his final few months when he bravely battled dementia.
While acknowledging that Gordon’s illness snatched his life too soon, the statement stressed the fact that he actually lived it to the fullest. He was praised for being the definition of an entertainer, the heart and soul of every celebration, and the most playful father a child could ask for.
The family conveyed their sincere gratitude to Herriot Hospice Homecare’s amazing personnel for their superb care. They also expressed their sincere gratitude to the Marie Curie staff for their outstanding assistance to Gordon, Yvonne, and their kids.
Gordon and Yvonne McQueen’s wedding date is uncertain, but in 1979 they had their first child, Hayley. Eddie was their son, and Hayley and Anna were their daughters.
