Godfrey Oliphant is a South African politician and the Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and a member of Parliament representing the ANC in the National Assembly.

Mr. Godfrey Oliphant was the Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources of the Republican of South Africa. Godfrey held this position since November 2010 till he was re-appointed in May 2014 until the 25th of May 2019.

Godfrey is also a member of the Central Committee of the South African Communist Party. In addition, He is also a member of The Taskforce team of ANC. He has also been a member of parliament representing the ANC from 1994.

He attended his primary school education at Warrenton and he matriculated at Huhudi High School at Ganyesa in the Vryburg area of North West Province South Africa. He later pursued further studies in Economics.

In 1990 after the unbanning of ANC he was part of the Interim Leadership Core (ILC) of the ANC in the Province of the Northern Cape and was later elected to the position of Provincial Deputy Chairperson of the ANC (Northern Cape).

In 1994 he became a member of Parliament representing the ANC in the National Assembly.

In 2010 he has appointed as the Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources a position he holds up to now.
