Girl in the Picture: Who Are Suzanne Marie Sevakis’ Brother And Sister?
Suzanne Marie Sevakis was the center of focus in the new Netflix movie, Girl in the Picture. She had two sisters and a brother.
Sandi Chipman was the mother of four children; Suzanne Marie Sevakis, two daughters, and a son. Her third marriage was with Franklin Delano Floyd, a convicted murderer on death row, whom she married in 1974.
When Sandi was serving a 30-day sentence for writing bad checks in 1975, Floyd kidnapped all four of his wife’s kids. He left the two daughters, Suzanne’s sisters, with the local social service agency in foster care.
Floyd then put his wife Sandi’s son up for adoption and left with five-year-old Suzanne Marie Sevakis. He began posing as Suzanne’s father under the alias Warren Marshall and changed her name to Sharon Marshall.
Sharon would be sexually abused by her stepfather Franklin Floyd. She was a gifted student in school, described as smart, bright, and mature for a teenage girl. She was in Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and the science club while in school.
In 2020, the real identity of Suzanne’s brother was revealed. He was identified as Phillip Brandenburg.
Suzanne Marie Sevakis First Child Son
Suzanne Marie Sevakis was pregnant with a child in her teenage years. She was accepted on a full scholarship at Georgia Tech, but Floyd forced her to give up her college admission, have the child, and put it up for adoption.
The father-daughter duo then moved to Tampa, Florida, where Suzanne worked as a stripper at Mons Venus strip club and had another child. They named the son Michael Hughes.
Franklin and Suzanne, who were living as father-daughter until that time, left for another city, got married in New Orleans, and became husband and wife.
Under the alias Tonya Hughes, Suzanne was hit by a car and died in an Oklahoma hospital in 1990. She was returning from grocery shopping when she was hit by a car.
Following her death, Floyd lost custody of her son Michael Hughes and briefly returned to prison. When he got out of prison, Floyd kidnapped the 6-year-old Michael Hughes from his school in 1994.
Despite the DNA test showing that Floyd wasn’t Michael’s father, he left with the 6-year-old. Michael’s body was never found, and while in prison for the kidnapping of Michael, Floyd admitted to murdering Michael shortly after kidnapping him.
Floyd was convicted of the murder of Cheryl Ann Commesso, a friend of Suzanne, when she was working as a stripper at Mons Venus strip club. Cheryl’s remains were discovered in 1995. Floyd had fatally shot Commesso inside his home at the Golden Lantern trailer park.
The incident and the search for the true identity of Suzanne Marie Sevakis, aka Tonya Hughes, aka Sharon Marshall, is documented in the new Netflix movie, Girl in the Picture.
