After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College, Gabrielle Carteris started her early television career. In popular shows like ABC Afterschool Specials, CBS Schoolbreak Special, and the venerable soap opera Another World, she was regularly cast as a young child.
She continued to play characters that were much younger than her actual age when she was cast as the responsible Andrea Zuckerman on Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990.
This role would become her most well-known. Amazingly, Carteris lied about her age to get the desired job during the audition process, becoming the oldest cast member to represent a character who is 15 years old. While still actively working on the program, Carteris’ production company, GABCO Productions, acquired a promising contract with Rysher TPE in 1993.
Carteris left Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1995 and launched her own television chat show, appropriately titled Gabrielle. Nevertheless, the show’s run lasted only one season. She continued acting and voiceover work after her time on 90210, amassing a remarkable number of credits in several films, television shows, and video games.
As the star of almost a dozen of these productions, she rose to fame in television movies. Her debut television film, Seduced and Betrayed, was released in 1995.
