The businessman, former minister, and former president of Olympique de Marseille had suffered from stomach cancer for several months.
Earlier, in September 2017, his wife had announced Bernard’s stomach cancer, which eventually extended to the bottom of the esophagus.
Bernard’s family announced the news in a press release posted online by La Provence.
The deceased wished to be buried in Marseille, his city of the heart.
