Freedom Street is a documentary about Joniad, Ashfaq, and Azizah, three refugees who have been stuck in Makassar, Indonesia for several years as a result of Australia’s border policies, tell their experience in Freedom Street.
The documentary was directed by Director Alfred Pek with featured stars – Nur Azizah, Ashfaq Hussain, and J.N. Jonaid.
In a series of talks with diverse experts, this feature-length documentary presents their poignant stories while deconstructing Australia’s brutal border protection policy, explaining the subject in its completely sad history and contemporary context.

JN Joniad is Journalist, advocate, activist, and writer. He was a refugee for a long time and had a hard time dealing with the matters. He was born to a Muslim family and spent his childhood in his home country.

JN Jonaid along with two other refugees was trapped in Indonesia because of the effects of Australia’s policies. His documentary is being released on 29 January.
