FREEBOY Profile

Freeboy is a Ugandan singer, songwriter and recording artist.

Freeboy whose real name is Adam Mandela Mubarak was born to Hajj Adam Angua of Yumbe Town Council, Yumbe district and Mrs Peace Mbabazi (a businesswoman) in 1988. He was the last born of 4 children and grew up with his mother in Kampala, Uganda.

Freeboy’s parents got separated and his mother relocated to Kisenyi, a suburb of Kampala in 1991. Not much is known about his siblings, childhood, or educational background.

Freeboy’s love for music traced back to his mother who had a vast collection of record players which she usually plays at home and in her Kiosk. This was during the post-war era of Uganda before there were any FM radio stations in the country.

Freeboy started his journey to stardom after he composed and released his first song “Sita Badilika” (I won’t change). The song whose recording was sponsored by his elder brother became a hit on local Fm stations and gave him the chance to perform at different clubs.

Freeboy, however, rose to fame after he dropped a club banger titled ‘Magic’. The song made him popular in the whole of Northern Uganda and Kampala as it got airplay on various media stations in Uganda.
