Freddie Moore, a jazz drummer whose career spanned seven decades, died on Tuesday at his home in the Bronx. He was 92 years old

Mr. Moore, whose career began when he was a teenager in traveling minstrel shows, performed with such jazzmen as Sidney Bechet, King Oliver, Art Hodes, Eubie Blake, Bob Wilber, and Roy Eldridge.

He played drums with a strong, steady beat, accented with sudden cannonlike shots and deliberately placed cymbal accents. For “Tiger Rag” he sometimes blew on his snare drum to create a kittenish “tiger roar.”

Drumming with one hand while he held a microphone in the other, he sang in a leathery, rhythmic shout while he agitated his face with exaggerated grimaces.

When he became physically unable to continue drumming a few years ago, Mr. Moore kept on singing and strumming a washboard with Bob Cantwell’s band at the Red Blazer Too on West 46th Street in Manhattan.

He officially retired last March but made one more appearance, his last, on his 92d birthday in August, once again playing at the club with the Cantwell band.

Freddy Moore Now

Freddy Moore – the first husband of actress Demi Moore – says he will read his ex-wife’s explosive memoir that details how she cheated on him the night before their wedding.

The rock musician, who was married to the actress between 1980 and 1985, was spotted by Lion’s Share News for the first time in years in Los Angeles on Wednesday and asked about the book.

In a video obtained by DailyMail.com, the 69-year-old said that he’ll read the book ‘as fast as I can’ – though he may not like what he reads in Inside Out: A Memoir, which hit shelves Tuesday.

‘The night before we got married, instead of working on my vows, I was calling a guy I’d met on a movie set,’ Moore, who was 18 when she tied the knot with the 30-year-old musician, said in an excerpt of her book.

However, he may not like what he reads as Moore says she cheated on the Panama hitmaker in the new memoir.

The 56-year-old continued: ‘I snuck out of my own bachelorette party and went to his apartment. Why did I do that? Why didn’t I go and see the man I was committing to spend the rest of my life with to express my doubts?’

The Roswell, New Mexico-born beauty said that her nuptials to the musician came during an emotional time after her father Danny Guynes took his own life in 1980.

‘I couldn’t face the fact that I was getting married to distract myself from grieving the death of my father,’ said the star of films such as Ghost, A Few Good Men and Indecent Proposal. ‘Because I felt there was no room to question what I’d already put in motion. I couldn’t get out of the marriage, but I could sabotage it.’

Moore said she was 16 when she first crossed paths with Freddy, who was married at the time to his first wife Lucy.

‘I was a self-absorbed teenager who hadn’t been raised with a lot of respect for the institution of marriage,’ she said in an excerpt of her book published on Us. ‘And I jumped into life with Freddy without, I’m sorry to say, much concern for his wife. Moore’s marriage to Freddy was followed by high-profile Hollywood unions to Bruce Willis from 1987 to 2000, and to Ashton Kutcher from 2005 to 2013.

Demi claims Freddy moved on with a 14-year-old student named Renee that he’d given guitar lessons to once she told him about her infidelity. The pair tied the knot in 2005 and are still going strong.

In her book, Demi writes: ‘I noticed right away that Freddy and Renee had a connection – despite his being more than twice her age -and one afternoon I told them, “If anything ever happened to Freddy and me, I bet you two would get together”.

‘Renee was embarrassed, and he was furious with me for upsetting her at the time, but as soon as Freddy and I broke up, they got together, and they’re still a couple to this day.’ Two years after they split, Demi met Bruce Willis in August 1987 and a whirlwind romance quickly followed with marriage and pregnancy within four months.

‘I think both of us from the outset were more passionate about having kids than we were about being married,’ Demi wrote of the 13-year marriage that saw them having three daughters Rumer, 31, Scout, 28, and Tallulah, 25. Demi later found love with Ashton Kutcher and married in 2005 before it ended in another divorce in 2013.

Freddy Moore’s Wife talks Demi Moore’s shocking cheating claim says musician is battling Alzheimer’s

Freddy Moore’s wife Renee Moore is coming forward after Demi Moore admitted she cheated on the musician in her shocking tell-all “Inside Out.”

Moore wrote in “the night before we got married, instead of working on my vows” she snuck out of her bachelorette party and slept with a man she met on a movie set. The rock musician’s wife Renee, whom he married in 2005, addressed the bombshell revelation in an exclusive statement to Fox News.

“We have not seen the book, so can’t and won’t comment on any specifics,” Renee told us Thursday. “What I will say is that Rick (Freddy) and Demi were married a long time ago when both of their lives were very different. In the time since they have both moved on to their own paths.”

Freddy Moore Hollywood Days

In 1976, after national touring and recording experience at three Minneapolis studios, Moore decided to head to Los Angeles along with his wife and the rest of the band.

While undergoing some personnel changes, the band changed their name to The Kats, and Moore invented a new on-stage persona for the act—a cat named Freddy. Moore took his on-stage persona very seriously and often pantomimed being a cat. Eventually, Moore adopted the name “Freddy Moore” as his professional moniker.

The Kats signed a recording contract with Infinity Records in 1979 and recorded an album with Tom Petty’s production team.

However, just as final mixes were being completed Infinity Records was dissolved by its parent company MCA Records. The album was never released, and the master tapes remain locked in the Shelter Studios vault.

Also in 1979, Moore “then 29” met the 16-year-old Demetria “Demi” Guynes at a nightclub. Almost immediately, despite Moore’s existing marriage, the two became a couple.

The two moved in together while Guynes was still 16, and married a few months later in February after Moore’s divorce from Lucy was finalized and Guynes was 17. Demi Guynes became Demi Moore, and she continues to use that name.

Meanwhile, Moore’s music career continued. Shortly after Infinity Records went under, lead guitarist Pete McRae departed The Kats, and the four remaining band members renamed themselves The Nu-Kats. They also promptly fired their management and signed with Rhino Records.

In 1980, the Nu-Kats recorded the EP Plastic Facts, featuring the track “It’s Not A Rumour”, which was written by Freddy and Demi Moore.

Demi Moore—not yet a star—also had a prominent role in the song’s video. “It’s Not A Rumour” never charted, but the video would receive occasional play on MTV, especially once Demi Moore became a well-known figure after her appearances on General Hospital starting in 1982.

The Nu Kats dissolved in 1981. Moore briefly moved to the Upper West Side of Manhattan and joined local NYC band The Dates, who never recorded. After an illness in the family brought him back to Los Angeles, Moore remained in LA and formed a new pop-influenced band called Boy.

The boy released an EP on Radioactive Records and Freddy received a Screen Actors Guild/AFTRA card while portraying the small role of ‘Arn’ in the 1982 film Parasite, a 3-D movie which starred his wife Demi. The music of Boy can be heard on the soundtrack.

Boy disbanded in 1983. Moore and his brother Bobby continued writing, arranging and recording new material for approximately another year. They played a few industry showcases under the name BFM (Bobbyzio and Freddy Moore).

Demi Moore filed for divorce from Moore on September 1984; the divorce became final in 1985. Of her, Freddy would later state, “I’ve never met a woman with a more obsessive need to be liked and loved”.

Freddy Moore quit the music business at around this time, although after a long layoff from performing, in 1997 he and several ex-bandmates began recording and self-releasing CDs of new material under the name The Kat Club.

Demi Moore ‘sabotaged’ first marriage to Freddy Moore by cheating night before the wedding

In her new autobiography, Inside Out, Demi Moore admits she snuck out of her own bachelorette party to cheat on fiancé Freddy Moore

Demi Moore has admitted she ‘sabotaged’ her first marriage to rock star Freddy more by cheating the night before their wedding.

Full of doubts about their union, instead of confiding in Freddy, Demi left her own bachelorette party to meet up with a man she’d met whilst filming.

“The night before we got married, instead of working on my vows, I was calling a guy I’d met on a movie set,” she writes in her new autobiography, Inside Out.

“I snuck out of my own bachelorette party and went to his apartment. Why did I do that? Why didn’t I go and see the man I was committing to spend the rest of my life with to express my doubts?”

The year was 1980 and 18-year-old Demi was still reeling from the shocking suicide of her dad Danny Guynes.

“I couldn’t face the fact that I was getting married to distract myself from grieving the death of my father,” she says.”Because I felt there was no room to question what I’d already put in motion. I couldn’t get out of the marriage, but I could sabotage it.”

She and Freddy, who was 12 years her senior, started dating when she was just 16 and he was already married to his first wife, Lucy.
However, Demi – who came from a dysfunctional home – admits she, “jumped into life with Freddy without, I’m sorry to say, much concern for his wife.”

“I was a self-absorbed teenager who hadn’t been raised with a lot of respect for the institution of marriage,” she writes. She filed for divorce from Freddy four years later, just as her career was taking off. And reflecting on their union, he hinted Demi – who has been in rehab numerous times – had already developed serious issues.

“I’ve never met a woman with a more obsessive need to be liked and loved,” he said.“She made me feel that, if I ever stopped loving her even for a single moment, she would kill herself. She was always plagued by jealousy and insecurity.”
