His father and mother were born in Sierra Leone and grew up there. But In 1993, his father, Constant, fled to America to seek refugees. It was because of the civil war that was going on in his home country.
His mother joined him three years after, in 1996. They relocated to the US to avoid the war and to seek some opportunities.
Constant Tiafoe began working as a laborer on a construction crew that built the Junior tennis champions Center in College Park, Maryland. This was where the Tiafoe brothers were born and spent most of their childhood.
Moreover, this place laid the foundation for the careers of professional tennis players. Constant was given an office to live in at the tennis center and was hired as the site caretaker once the center’s project was completed for operation.
The twin brothers spent five days a week with their father at the center for the coming 11 years. However, they used every chance to play and train in this sophisticated facility without fees and payments.

Tiafoe and Franklin’s father arranged for them to start training at the JTCC without paying their regular tuition at just the age of 5.
Misha Kouznetsov started coaching and training Tiafoe at the center when he was eight years old because the well-renowned coach was impressed by his work ethic and love for Tennis.

The professional tennis player continued to train and work hard for the next nine years until he joined the USTA National Training Center in Boca Raton, Florida for the next nine years.
In this way, a legend was born.
