Florida’s Shirley Wheeler Abortion Story Gets The Limelight Amid Roe Vs Wade Protest

In Florida, Shirley Wheeler was convicted guilty of killing a different kid she was carrying but did not want.

She was the first woman in the state to face charges for breaking early 19th-century anti-abortion laws. She might also have been the first woman to be charged with a crime for having an abortion in the English-speaking world.

The rights guaranteed by the constitution and the equality of all women are violated by anti-abortion laws.

Learn about Shirley Wheeler’s Abortion Story – Wikipedia

Shirley Wheeler, 23, has always lived on the periphery of the American ideal.

Her mother passed away when she was 13 months old, and her alcoholic father abandoned the family when she was the eighth child of a southern millhand.

She was raised by friends and family in North Carolina until she was 16 years old, at which point she was abandoned. She claims that two years after being raped by two teenagers, she became a mother.

Despite the fact that Miss Wheeler did not dispute having the abortion, she insisted that the fetus was younger than five months old at the time and that she had never felt fetal movement. She received a two-year probationary period in October.

What Is Amid Roe Vs Wade Protest?

The Roe v. Wade decision is being criticized and seems to be subject to partisan interpretation.

The Supreme Court’s decision, which steered the country toward a more progressive understanding of equality, was made 45 years ago on Monday, Jan. 22. However, there has always been a simmering conflict in Florida around abortion rights.

Prior to Roe, there was Wheeler’s predicament, which served as a type of public sacrifice, as well as the millions of untold women who encountered comparable circumstances.

When it comes to restricting women’s access to abortion, the Florida Legislature has never held back, whether by making moral pronouncements or by passing legislation.
