Father Bob Maguire, a popular Catholic priest, social justice activist, and media personality, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 88. Both parishioners and influential people have paid respect to him.
Maguire became well-known in Melbourne and throughout Australia as a result of his charitable efforts, support for the underprivileged, and wicked sense of humor.
According to his family, Maguire passed away on Wednesday morning at Melbourne’s Cabrini Hospital.
“Father Bob was a beloved and cherished family member who would be dearly missed for his vigor and sense of humor.
His family noted in a statement that although his physical and mental health had been declining for some time, he had always preferred to help others rather than think about his own needs.

Maguire served as the parish priest of Sts. Peter and Paul’s Church in South Melbourne from 1973 until 2012.
