Amid the curiosity of fans, The house in ‘The Split’ is real and not a set design.
Abi Morgan wrote and developed The Split, a British legal drama television series that premiered on BBC One on April 24, 2018.
The first season, which premiered in August 2016, follows the Defoe family, who all work in divorce law for the family practice, with the exception of oldest sister Hannah (Nicola Walker), who works for rival family law firm Noble & Hale, and youngest daughter, who works as a childminder.
Stephen Mangan, Fiona Button, Annabel Scholey, and Barry Atsma are among the cast members of the series. With the majority of the original cast confirmed, the Defoe family returned in Series 2 at the newly combined legal firm Noble Hale Defoe.
Is The House In The Split A Real Place?
The Split is set in London and follows the Defoe family’s lives.
Creator Abi Morgan previously told the BBC of the show’s London location that a lawyer he spoke to said that London was the divorce capital of the world.
“One of the reasons for this was a lady named Blanche Lucas, who was one of the first divorce lawyers to campaign for women to get not only alimony and a piece of the house but also a lump amount of money.
He further said It was a recognition of how much they may have sacrificed in a relationship to support a man’s job.
The Split Filming Locations & Designs Explained
Apart from the house, there were several locations used in the series which included, Philadelphia Zoo – 3400 W. Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, Silk City Diner Bar & Lounge – 435 Spring Garden St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, Sun Center Studios, Aston, Pennsylvania, USA.
Further, they went5 to 30th Street Station – 3001 Market Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and New Jersey as well.
The dinner scene was carried out in Fisherman Restaurant, 440 Schuylkill Rd, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA. Its studio was in Sun Center Studios, Aston, Pennsylvania, USA.
Similarly, the set design was given to a professional team by the production which was applauded by the viewers. It is one of the most appreciated aspects of the series and fans cannot wait to see what unravels in the coming seasons.
