What did Chris Rock say about Jada Pinkett Smith that made her husband, Will Smith, come out at the stage and slap him in the face? Here’s what actually happened.
Actor Will Smith slammed Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars for making a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. The scene appeared to be scripted at first, but after watching it a few times, fans believe it was real and not rehearsed at all.
This type of situation has never occurred at the Oscars, and no one expects a couple of well-established and well-behaved actors to clash on Hollywood’s biggest night.
But something unexpected happened at the Academy Awards on Sunday night. Comedian Chris Rock was trying to be sarcastic about Will Smith’s wife when Will stormed onto the stage and slapped him.
What Did Chris Rock Say About Jada Pinkett Smith At The Oscars?
At the Oscars, Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s short hair. He stated that he was excited to see her in the cast of GI Jane 2. His exact words were “I adore you, Jada. I can’t wait to see you, GI Jane 2.”
Amy Kaufman, a writer for the Los Angeles Times, explained on Twitter what might have sparked Smith’s rage. She claimed that Rock made a joke about Jada’s bald head.
Jada suffers from a condition that causes her hair to fall out excessively. In 2018, Pinkett Smith revealed her alopecia diagnosis. Folks say it was wrong of Chris to joke about someones’ illness in the public.
Perhaps the comedian was unaware of Jada’s condition, which is why he made a joke about it.
