Walden is optimistic that an epidural steroid treatment will help him recover from a spinal condition and resume his snooker career.
Walden, a three-time ranking event champion, has dealt with a number of injuries in recent years, including a bulging disc at the bottom of his spine, which he has been dealing with for the past eight months.
As a result, he hasn’t advanced past the final 16 of a ranking event in 2017 and has plummeted to 24th in the world after spending five years in the top 16.
Ricky Walden Illness And Accident Update
Rickey Walden has discussed that he suffered many illnesses and even accidents in his career as professional snooker.
In December 2016, Walden developed a bulging disc in his back. He began entering more events than in prior seasons, concerned about retaining his standing.
Because of his injuries, he was unable to put in the necessary practice hours to maintain his form, and he stopped seeing results. He has suffered more physical illness rather than disease or getting sick.
Walden, 34, of Chester, underwent the epidural last month and is pleased with the results. He said it wasn’t a serious ailment, but it made playing snooker tough when it flared up.
