Michael Spavor, a Canadian native, born in 1976 is the director of Paektu Cultural Exchange, an organization that promotes investment and tourism in North Korea.
Michael came into the limelight after it was revealed that he had been sentenced to 11 years in prison for espionage. He was first arrested in December 2018.
However, Michael was freed on September 24, 2021, after the dropping of Meng Wanzhou’s extradition request as part of her deferred prosecution deal with the US Department of Justice.
