Paula Wilcox is not a part of the ITV series Stonehouse. Fans have mistaken her for Emer Heatley as she resembled young Paula.
Stonehouse released its first episode on ITV on January 2, 2023. The main actors are Keeley Hawes, Matthew Macfayden, and Emer Heatley. It explores the life events of a key member of former Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s Government, John Stonehouse.
As per IMDB, the other actors in the series include Dorothy Atkinson, Ieva Andrejevaite, Kevin Mcnally, Linda Armstrong, and Richard Dillane. However, for some reason, some viewers think Paula, the Coronation Street actress, is also a part of the show, and here is why.
Is Paula Wilcox In Stonehouse?
Paula Wilcox is not in the ITV drama series Stonehouse. Paula Wilcox was confused for Emer Heatley the third lead character of the show.
A user on Twitter commented on the acting of the actors of Stonehouse. The user mentioned Keely, Matthew & Paula. While the first two are the major actors in the show, Paula is not part of it.
The talented actress, Emer, plays the role of John’s mistress, Sheila Buckley. She is the one who works closely with him during his days as a sitting MP.
While there is a significant difference in Paula and Emer’s look, in some of the scenes, there are chances that some viewers may mistake them. Paula is already in her 70s, while the actress playing Shiela is at least 40 years younger than her.
But since the series portrays the story in the 1970s, some pictures give a vibe of that time. Thus, Emer looks like a younger version of Paula in some pictures, which makes people mistake them.
Besides, Paula has been busy playing her role in Coronation Street since 2020. She now plays Elaine Jones, a previous abuse victim who was Geoff Metcalfe’s first wife and gave birth to Tim Metcalfe.
She previously made an appearance as Ray Langton’s sister Janice on Coronation Street in 1969.
On the other hand, Emer is an independent artist who is also a writer. She has been emerging as an actor in recent days only.
The Show Features Life Of John Stonehouse
Stonehouse is the dramatization of the life and time of labor politician John Stonehouse. In 1974, he was the Postmaster General in the Harold Wilson administration and the MP for Walsall North.
In the real-life story, he suddenly vanished from the beach of a posh hotel in Miami, Florida, after swimming into the sea in November.
The MP abandoned clothes on the beach were discovered by the hotel waiter close by, and after some time, he was presumed to have passed away, although no bodies were recovered from the sea.
However, it turned out that he did all those to fake his demise while escaping from money troubles and unburdening himself from his wife and three children, writes Digital Spy.
He had hoped to start a new life in Australia with his mistress and secretary, Sheila Buckley. Later, he was deported back to the UK from Australia for spying, forgery, theft, and fraudulent acts.
Overall, this series portrays the events involving John’s life, including his relationship with his wife, Barbara, his affair with his secretary Sheila and an alleged period of spying for the Czech secret service.
