Fans Are Convinced Jeff Dunham and His Guitar Guy Brian Haner Are Brothers

Jeff Dunham and Brian Haner are not related. Dunham is a stand up comedian and ventriloquist while Brian Haner is his guitar guy.

Dunham is the only kid of a real estate appraiser and a housewife living in a Dallas suburb. He received a toy ventriloquist dummy on Christmas at the age of nine, began to practice, and began thinking about characters that could say what no one else would dare to say.

While still in high school, the little boy who became obsessed with Mortimer Snerd and Charlie McCarthy was soon dazzling and disarming classmates, performing at Kiwanis Clubs and Scout banquets, doing TV ads for Texas car dealerships, and later to national appearances.

He was earning $70,000 annually for having public conversations with himself by the time he started at Baylor University. Dunham also does a lot of tours and in those tours, guitar guy Brian has been opening the tours with him.

Jeff Dunham and Brian Haner are not brothers but just co workers.

Brian, a talented musician turned musician-comedian, has been opening tours for comedian-ventriloquist Jeff. He appears twice during each show, slinging his Schecter hybrid electric/digital guitar alongside the stand-up-ventriloquist and his five legendary puppets.

Dunham saw Haner perform at Chicago’s Improv Club and invited him to produce the YouTube song “Jingle Bombs,” featuring puppet Achmed.

Haner joined Dunham to record the song without rehearsing. Dunham had forgotten Haner’s name and introduced him as “Guitar Guy” through Achmed. Haner “wears it proudly” since it stuck.

Haner appears for 15 minutes with Achmed and 10 minutes with Peanut on Friday’s episode of Dunham’s show. Dunham makes use of his time with Haner to make him laugh with unscripted humor. Haner can sometimes return the favor.

Haner received his first guitar when he was five years old after seeing The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. When he was ten, he joined The Plastic Mind, his first band.

When he was 16, he began touring with the Pharaohs and Sam the Sham. After high school, he went to the Dick Grove School of Music to study music theory, composition, arranging, and film scoring.
