A Harlem native Famous Dex is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. His birth name is Dexter Tiewon Gore, Jr. He is famous for his song Pick It Up and Japan. Dex followed his debut mixtape release Never Seen It Coming with a second mixtape called Dexters Laboratory. He was nicknamed Black Migo Dex by one of his friends for being an African-American Muslim.
Dex self-released his first mixtape Never Seen It Coming in 2015. Later that year he released Dexters Laboratory his second mixtape. Dripping and #OhhMannGoddDamn were his third and fourth mixtapes realized in early 2016. In March 2016 he announced being officially signed to Rich the Kids label, Rich Forever Music.
He realized his debut album Dex Meets Dexter in April 2017. Gore later announced the title of his debut album, Dex Meets Dexter. The album was released on April 6, 2018. He released “Pick It Up” featuring ASAP Rocky as the first single from the album in October 2017. It peaked at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his first song to chart.
Japan is the album’s second single “Japan” which was released on March 16, 2018. He released the single “Light” featuring Drax Project on March 30, 2018. Lil Baby, Jay Critch, and Rich The Kid are featured in The single “Nervous”. It was released on September 21, 2018. On May 8, 2019, the single “Fully Loaded” was released which featured Lil Gotit. A music video was released later on May 27, 2019.

In 2018, prior to the University of California, Irvine’s Shocktoberfest music event, the university’s Student Services was criticized for allowing Gore to perform at the event after a security video from two years prior emerged showing Gore chasing his girlfriend down a hallway and then hitting her several times.
Gore was permitted to perform despite the domestic abuse revelations, and while doing so jumped into the crowded audience causing safety barriers to be knocked over by a rush of audience members. In addition, the event was shut down as a result. While leaving the event, it was alleged someone in Gore’s vehicle pointed a gun at students.
According to the university‘s official campus newspaper, “Gore bragged online about shutting down the event saying, ‘I just shut the showdown. And it was all positive vibes.’”
On December 22, 2018, Gore uploaded a video post to his Instagram page in which he made racially-charged jokes at the expense of an elderly Indian American Hinducashier at a gas station he was frequenting with a friend. During the video, he remarks “Witcho’ lil,’” referring to the man’s tilaka on his forehead. This was following a brief exchange about the packaging of the Backwoods Smokes box Gore was purchasing.
He then stops and rhetorically adds “That’s a mark of Buddha in between yo’ face?” laughing along with his friend. This is in reference to the 2001 stoner film How High. In which Chuck Deezy’s character Ivory opined that the pubic patch between his eyebrows was the ‘mark of Buddha.

Famous Dex was arrested last night in New York City due to an outstanding warrant. TMZ reports the arrest may be the result of Famous Dex being in the company of people involved in credit card fraud.
Dex was nabbed in Manhattan from a warrant regarding a missed court date for a public drinking violation. However, the arrest wasn’t initially as a result of the warrant, but instead because he was with a group of people who were under investigation for credit card fraud. The arrest occurred at the Royalton Park Avenue hotel and when his name was checked by police the warrant was a result.
The trouble didn’t end there for Dex, he was also booked for marijuana possession. The one-piece of good news is that he didn’t get booked for the credit card fraud on his way to see the judge.

Dex was battling a drug problem. The rumors were fueled after the rapper looked as if he was under the influence on Instagram Live, then right in the middle of the broadcast, he fell asleep. “I’m not going to lie, I was tired and high at the same time,” responded Dex to the outpour of concern. With a number of rappers losing their lives to drug addiction, fans were worried that if Dex didn’t change his habits, something terrible could happen.
TMZ later reported that the 25-year-old’s team was closely monitoring him and helping him to abandon all behaviors that were unhealthy. It looks as if their efforts worked, but because Dex took to Instagram to share that he’s quit doing drugs and living a sober life for himself and his loved ones.

He then points the camera to a nightstand full of juices and snacks before putting the attention back on himself and saying, “I’m doing it for me and my children.” He looks healthy, happy, and hopeful. Good for him!
