Charles Joseph Crist Jr., known prominently as Charlie Crist, is an American attorney and politician.
Crist is currently a United States House of Representatives member from Florida’s 13th District, a position he assumed on January 3, 2017. The 13th District is based in St. Petersburg.
Before his current position, Crist was the 44th Governor of Florida. He was in the office from January 2, 2007, to January 4, 2011.
From January 7, 2003, to January 2, 2007, Crist was the 35th Florida Attorney General. His governor was Jeb Bush, whom he would later replace.
Crist was the 21st Education Commissioner of Florida from January 3, 2001, to January 7, 2003. Jeb Bush was his governor during this position as well.
For most of the 90s, from November 3, 1992, to November 3, 1998, Cist was a member of the Florida Senate from the 20th District.
Crist has had a political career that has swayed both sides of the bipartisan system as he was a Republican before 2010, an Independent from 2010 to 2012, and a Democrat since 2012.
Crist joined the democratic party on December 7, 2012, after endorsing President Barack Obama for re-election 2012.
