Evan Felker Singer
When Duane moved to Stilwater, Oklahoma in his twenties he became interested in country music, his ”role models” were Cross Canadian Ragweed and Jason Boland. He and guitarist Ryan Engleman started playing as a two-man acoustic act and were joined by bass player R.C. Edwards two months later. Finally, drummer Giovanni ”Nooch” Camuccio and fiddler Kyle Nix linked and formed the Turnpike Troubadours. The band later relocated to Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Evan Felker Turnpike Troubadours
Turnpike Troubadours frontman Evan Felker and singer-songwriter Carrie Rodriguez come together to sing the new song ”Whiskey in Your Water” for Bruce Robison’s Next Waltz. A clip shows the duo performing the track in the studio with Robison’s Next Waltz house band.
With dusty rock and roll charm to spare, the strummy tune sees Duane singing about a pair of lovers that have to stay on the run for reasons not entirely clear. They’re an unpredictable pair, but there’s an unmistakable optimism about what they will find when they get wherever they are going. ”Never know just what you are thinking when you look at me that way,” Duane sings accompanied by harmony and fiddle work from Rodriguez.
Duane’s main band had previously performed as part of the Next Waltz and he mentioned to Robison that he was a fan of Rodriguez but had never met her. ”I proposed that we come up with a song to do and had been pitching things at him for a while,” says Robison. ”When he sent me the chorus of ‘Whiskey in Your Water,’ I knew it was the one we should do with Carrie. He was still writing lyrics to the moment we cut the song. It’s just magic they should do an entire record together.”
”Whiskey in Your Water” was recorded before the Turnpike Troubadours made the decision to go on hiatus. The common Oklahoma band was based on troubles earlier in 2019, canceling a series of concerts before ultimately deciding to take a break. Rodriguez, meanwhile, unleashed the album Lola a bilingual collection that placed Mexican ranchers together with country ballads in 2016.
Evan Felker Miranda Lambert
After Miranda Lambert announced she was single, fans immediately started wondering what went wrong in her brief romance with Evan. The country superstar disclosed in an interview with The Tennessean that she and the Turnpike Troubadours singer, both 34, recently broke up, but the reason behind the separation instantly became a game of fill in the blank.
Now a source discloses to PEOPLE that Evan crossed lines that caused their relationship to end. ”I don’t think it was a dramatic separation but he knew what he was ‘allowed’ to do based on her rules and he broke them,” says the source. ”He did something that he knew she was not going to approve of, she assumed he did it and he did not deny it.”
In May various sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Lambert and Evan’s relationship took off after he opened with his band fro three dates on her Livin’ Like Hippies tour in early February, just months before her separation from boyfriend Anderson East was disclosed in early April.
”Love is a hard road sometimes and it’s been a roller coaster ride for me, but I’m definitely thankful for all the ups and downs because I’ve had some really good songs come out of it,” Lambert said to The Tennessean ”You’ve got to take the bad parts and put them on paper and then move on to the happy parts.”
Evan Felker Staci Nelson
Evan and ex-wife Staci Nelson will not be moving back into the house that built them following the musician’s separation from Miranda Lambert earlier this month. Though fans are speculating about a reunion between the Turnpike Troubadours singer and Nelson, a source close to the pair tells PEOPLE ”there is no reconciliation in the works.”
