Evan D. Goldberg is a Canadian writer, director, and producer, and he is also a close friend and collaborator of Seth Rogen. For many of Rogen’s film and television ventures, including “Superbad,” “Pineapple Express,” “This is the End,” and “The Interview,” among others, Goldberg has collaborated with him.
In Vancouver, Canada, when they were both in the same bar mitzvah class as teenagers, Goldberg and Rogen got to know one another. Later, while pursuing professions in the entertainment sector in Los Angeles, they reconnected and started working on projects together.
In 2019, Goldberg and Rogen also co-founded Houseplant, a Canadian cannabis business, in addition to their work in movies and television. The company wants to provide consumers in Canada and abroad with high-quality cannabis goods and accessories.
Goldberg and Rogen are both “obsessed” fans of The Simpsons. After learning that The Simpsons executive producer James L. Brooks was a fan of Superbad, they decided to ask the producers of the show if they could write an episode.
They were invited to The Simpsons writer’s room, where they pitched several episode ideas. One was accepted, and they wrote an outline with the help of some feedback from the regular writers. It became the episode “Homer the Whopper”, which was the season premiere of season twenty-one.
Goldberg has a chapter giving advice in Tim Ferriss’ book Tools of Titans. Overall, Goldberg and Rogen have a longstanding friendship and creative partnership that has spanned many years and projects.
