Euphoria actress Barbie Ferreira has come under fire recently for her old Tumblr posts.

Ferreira is an American model and actress known for her role as Kat Hernandez in the HBO series Euphoria.

The former Euphoria actress was born in Queens, New York City, and grew up in Maywood, New Jersey, where she attended Hackensack High School.

The actress is of Brazillian descent and was raised by her mother, grandmother, and aunt. Her mother and grandmother work as chefs.

Ferreira identifies as queer and is currently dating guitarist, prouder, and artist Elle Puckett.

Ferreira began her career as a teenager by sending modeling photos to an open casting call by American Apparel.

Since then, the actress has modeled for many brands, the most prominent of which are Forever 21, Adidas, and H&M, among others.

Ferreira went viral in 2016 due to unretouched photos and a video interview of her campaign with Aerie. Time Magazine named the actress among their most influential teens list later in the year.

After the news of Barbie Ferreira leaving Euphoria broke, many people took to Twitter to remind the world of her Tumblr controversy.

In 2016, Ferreira had a tumble account called boredbarbara, where she would impersonate a black woman and use that as an opportunity to say racist words.

People started sharing screenshots of her Tumblr account where she used the n-word and wrote in African American vernacular.

Many people who knew her back then also stated that when they brought up her usage of these offensive words, Ferreira would state that she was half black which is not true.

However, the plot thickens because these posts are simply allegations. No one has any proof that Ferreira is the person who made these Tumblr posts.

It is due to this fact that many people have come to her defense because the same couple of screenshots have been floating around without a picture or anything else attached to the profile to prove it is Ferreira.

There’s also a third camp that have forgiven Ferreira stating she was only a teenager and didn’t know any better.

Barbie Ferreira has not made any public statements confirming or denying the Tumblr posts.

As such, it is not fair to label her a racist until it becomes clear that she is the person behind the posts.

One of the reasons why people have been so quick to label Ferreira as a racist is this past tumultuous weekend where not one but two other Euphoria casts fell under hot water.

First, fellow Euphoria actress and trans person Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules in the show, made an Instagram post where she blamed non-binary people for the lack of medical treatment provided to trans people.

This post came after reports that Florida would not allow people to use Medicaid to pay for gender-affirming surgery.

In her post, Schafer stated that non-binary people intentionally let binary trans people suffer while playing around with their gender identity.

Understandably, the post not only got tons of backlash but also got people from all camps to wonder how many would still be Hunter Schafer fans in the third season.

The second controversy was when Sydney Sweeney posted pictures from her mother’s sixtieth birthday party.

Among pictures of her with her mother and the rest of her family, fans spotted people wearing red hats that said: “Make Sixty Great Again,” which many mistook for Donald Trump’s MAGA hats.

However, what made matters worse was that one of Sweeney’s family members wore a Blue Lives Matter shirt.

Many of Sweeney’s fans criticized her on the internet, calling her posting these pictures insensitive.

Sweeney took to Twitter to clear the air and stated that the pictures were from an innocent celebration, which only made matters worse.

No, Barbie Ferreira is not related to the acclaimed actress America Ferrera, known for her role as Ugly Betty.

Barbie Ferreira is white-passing and of Brazillian descent, whereas America Ferrera was born in Los Angeles to Honduran parents.

The actors have nothing in common except their similar-looking last names.

After leaving Euphoria, Ferreira had a small role in the new Jordan Peele movie Nope. The actress announced that she would join actress Ariana DeBose in the new thriller House of Spoils.
