Esther Ku is an American and Korean actress. she is also a television personality and an actress.
Esther Ku Age and Bio
Esther Ku was born on 17 th February 1980 to Korean missionary parents in Chicago, USA. At the time of writing this article, she is 37 years old.
She reportedly started standing at the age of 13 during the eighth year of her school’s Talent Show. In an interview, she revealed how her entire comedy career was inspired by her family. In high school, she wrote articles and people praised her for her humor. It was then that she decided to become an actress. She eventually took adult education classes in stand-up comedy because she felt she didn’t know how to find the open mics.
Ku also revealed that she started out in an open mic in Boston and at first she thought trying to create a character on stage was difficult, but over time she realized she had to be herself and let her natural abilities take over.
In her early days, Esther Ku was said to have been fired from her job as a traveling rep at Sharpie, claiming she laughed too much. She also claimed it was a test of her acting craft at the time.
In 2006, she was selected for the NBCDiversity Showcase stand-up, and in 2011 she was the emcee of a New York show based on Asian heritage and starring Jenny Choi and Peerlander-Z.
Esther Ku starred as Tracy on The Jack and Triumph Show, although the series did not exceed seven episodes. Ku has also appeared in a few shows and short films.
The spotlight was finally on Esther Ku when she was a finalist on Last Comic Standing, an NBC reality show that aimed to find the craziest and funniest comedian in the country. She was eliminated in the first round, but that never deterred her from doing stand-up theater.
Esther Ku went on to be a finalist in series like NBC’s Last Comic Standing Season and Howard Stern’s Funniest and Funniest Chick Contest on Sirius Satellite Radio.
It is said that Ku spends her time rewriting the lyrics of her favorite oldies songs and actually shares this comedy album which she named “Oldies Parodies”, which is available on iTunes.
She currently resides in Brooklyn and travels the world entertaining audiences with her “bratty charm” and “infamous” laugh.
When it comes to jokes, she practically jokes about anything, although some people find her jokes unfunny and have racial content. In 2006, when she had a show at Jimbo, she joked that she was Asian and had to deal with it.
“I don’t really like being Asian, but I’m kind of stuck with it. The only good thing about being Asian is that it helps you get into college”
She also said, “Nigerian babies cost around 25 cents a day, Asian babies cost a lot more as they bring in,” she however questioned if she was going too far.
