ESPN NFL Future Power Rankings put Philadelphia Eagles at the top, followed by Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals.
The Eagles, Chiefs, and Bengals have the best chance to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy this year. The battle of QBs will be the main focus between these teams.
On the contrary, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals were placed as the bottom two teams. The loss of Tom Brady for the Buccs is considered a fall from grace for the franchise. Baker Mayfield has joined the team and must prove the naysayers wrong.
Likewise, the Cardinals can acquire some of the top prospects and build a team for the future. They must not be regarded as failures. We believe that they can bring top-notch talents and start their ascend.

Kansas City Cheifs – 1
The Super Bowl LVII winners are a hot property heading into the 2023 season. The NFL and SB MVP Patrick Mahomes and company fare at +600 to win the trophy.
The combination of Travis Kelce, Noah Grey, Isiah Pacheco, Kadarius Toney, Richie James, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling scored 26 touchdowns in 2022.
The addition of Rashee Rice and Jawaan Taylor adds depth to the attack.
With the departure of Andrew Wylie, Franck Clark, and Orlando Brown Jr., Charles Omenihu and Felix Anudike-Uzomah were acquired to handle the Right Defensive End positions.
The team is packed with talent in both offense and defense. They will surely bring their A-game and will be the team to beat for the title.
Philadelphia Eagles – 2
The 2023 Vince Lombardi Trophy runner-ups look threatening for the upcoming campaign. They are placed second with +650 odds to win the SB.
Jalen Hurts produced his best last year with 3,701 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns. His rushing touchdown was 13.
He will again rely on A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, D’Andre Swift, and Dallas Goedert to help him gain yards and keep the scoreboard ticking.
The defensive lineup with Brandon Graham, Haason Riddick, Milton Williams, Fletcher Cox, and Josh Sweat helped in the 70-sack season. It was the fourth time a team registered such a massive number in the league.
The addition of rookies Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith makes the Eagles an impenetrable force.
San Francisco 49ers – 3
QB Brock Purdy underwent elbow surgery and will like to return to the field for his second season. He was 5-0 in 2022 and made 13 passing touchdowns in five matches.
They had a brilliant run in 2022 before losing to the Eagles in the NFC Championships.
Their defense was the best run defense in the league. They allowed 77.7 rushing yards and 3.4 yards per carry in a game.
Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead will return healthy for the new campaign. Javon Hargrave, Fred Warner, Drake Jackson, and Talanoa Hufanga will raise questions about the opponent’s offense. The selection of Ji’Ayir Brown adds depth to the roster.
RB Christin McCaffrey, WR Deebo Samuel, TE George Kittle, and WR Brandon Aiyuk have all displayed their worth repeatedly.

The Power Five
Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, and Kansas City Chiefs make their presence known in the top three. Buffalo Bills gain a ranking and are in #4.
The 49ers see a dive to the 7th spot from the 3rd. It is because Nick Bosa is playing the fifth year of his rookie contract and will be an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2024. The two parties have not reached any conclusion, which hampers the 49ers’ chance of winning the championship.
Meanwhile, we assume Los Angeles Chargers will stride to the top 5. They are projected to bring quality RB Trey Benson and DT Maason Smith in the 2024 draft. It will bolster their squad’s power and makes them a contender.
The Biggest Gainers
We believe the Jacksonville Jaguars (12 to 6) will continue excelling with Trevor Lawrence. The offense will like to retain the services of Calvin Ridley and pair him up with Christian Kirk and Zay Zones.
Likewise, Minnesota Vikings are looking great and make a five-place jump from #14 to #9. Justin Jefferson will be in his fifth year and break the 2K passing yard record in 2023. He will be crucial in their success.
Jordan Love will be tested in the QB role at Green Bay Packers (18 to 13) in 2023. Love’s performance will reflect whether the Packers miss Aaron Rodgers or not. He will do a decent job and make the position his own.
New England Patriots haven’t been the same with the G.O.A.T. Tom Brady. Mac Jones is improving, and the rest are going with the flow. They can surprise many with their performance and again dare to be the challengers.
C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young can be the game-changer for Houston Texans (30 to 25) and Carolina Panthers (28 to 22). They will help their teams stride forward.
The Biggest Losers
Aaron Rodgers will enter the last year of his career (most probably) with the Jets in the 2024 season. They will need to look for another elite QB to lead the team. We have placed them at 17 (previous: 6).
Tampa Bay Buccaneers have added Baker Mayfield in the QB role. The team does not look much of a threat and lacks personality. They drop down to 29 from 21.
Washington Commanders lack offensive and defensive power. They are in the rebuilding stage and need time to have a strong foundation. They drop to #30 from #22.
2025 NFL Power Rankings
2025 NFL Future Power Rankings is projected to look like the table below:
| Ranking | Teams |
| 1 | Cincinnati Bengals |
| 2 | Philadelphia Eagles |
| 3 | Kansas City Chiefs |
| 4 | Los Angeles Chargers |
| 5 | Buffalo Bills |
| 6 | Jacksonville Jagaurs |
| 7 | San Francisco 49ers |
| 8 | Carolina Panthers |
| 9 | Dallas Cowboys |
| 10 | Cleveland Browns |
| 11 | Atlanta Falcons |
| 12 | Houston Texans |
| 13 | Baltimore Ravens |
| 14 | Miami Dolphins |
| 15 | Pittsburgh Steelers |
| 16 | Chicago Bears |
| 17 | Indianapolis Colts |
| 18 | Detroit Lions |
| 19 | Las Vegas Raiders |
| 20 | New York Giants |
| 21 | Minnesota Vikings |
| 22 | Green Bay Packers |
| 23 | Washington Commanders |
| 24 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
| 25 | Denver Broncos |
| 26 | New York Jets |
| 27 | New England Patriots |
| 28 | Seattle Seahawks |
| 29 | Arizona Cardinals |
| 30 | Tennessee Titans |
| 31 | Los Angeles Rams |
| 32 | New Orleans Saints |
Consistent Top Tier
The top-tier contest for supremacy won’t budge in the 2025 campaign. We can presume them to maintain their dominance in the league.
The Bengals may finally lift the championship with Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins ripping apart the opponent’s defense.
Jalen Carter, Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and the Eagles will maintain their presence for the gold. The franchise consists of talented young players who seem to be there for a while.
Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs will remain the top contenders for the trophy. Travie Kelce may remain an elite TE till that year and give an exhilarating performance.
One can see that the Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and San Francisco 49ers are still playing elite football and remaining in contention for the title.
Biggest Threats
Carolina Panthers, with Bryce Young, Jonathan Mingo, Miles Sanders, and Terrace Marshall Jr., will look solid in the offense. The arrival of Adam Thielen in 2023 adds more firepower to the squad.
Shy Tuttle, Derrick Brown, Shaq Thompson, DeShawn Williams, and Henry Anderson will be their key defensive fronts.
You can also expect Houston Texans with C.J. Stroud to make a great leap and find themselves in the first half of the chart. Stroud had shown his potential playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Will Anderson Jr. is another quality player who can become a world-class athlete. The impact of Laremy Tunsil, Nico Williams, Dalton Schultz, Jammie Ward, and others will be crucial for their uprising.
Bijan Robinson and Atlanta Falcons will surely add Marvin Harrison Jr. or Caleb Williams to the squad. They already had a balanced squad, and including raw talents could help them become a real threat in the league. A lot would be riding on their draft picks and the franchise’s ability to mold the young blood into superstars.
Dark Horses
Every year, some teams are seen as the underdogs, and no one bats an eye on them. No one assumes them to deliver world-class football.
Some might even consider them sleeping giants. Los Angeles Rams were exceptional in their 2021 Super Bowl-winning year. WR Cooper Kupp and QB Matthew Stafford were phenomenal that year.
The WR was unable to replicate the same in 2022. But, the addition of Stetson Bennett, the two-time CFP National Champion, and Championship MVP, can change the entire equation. Van Jefferson, Demarcus Robinson, and Cam Akers can shine bright in the league.
Likewise, Arizona Cardinals are projected to be at the bottom pit in 2023 and 2024. But it offers them the opportunity to have early selections in the draft.
They will surely rebuild their team around rookie talents like Caleb Williams, Marvin Harrison Jr., Drake Maye, or Brock Bowers. You can throw the 2025 draft prospects Cade Klubnik, Drew Allar, Will Campbell, and Jeremiah Alexander in the mix.
They seem to have lots of work but can come out blazing guns, take down the best of the best, and surprise everyone.
Projected Downgrade
New York Jets are supposed to be without Aaron Rodgers, and the arrival of a new QB will continually lower their chances. It will depend on who they bring in to fill the void and whether that person can deliver.
Similarly, with their aging defense, New England Patriots will be a problem. Readjusting and rebuilding will be necessary to remain the top dog in the league.
We believe Justin Jefferson will likely change his team when his rookie contract expires. He won’t hamper his chance at greatness with an aging QB. The Vikings will face a massive problem if that happens.
A similar situation will befall the Dolphins as they may lose Tua Tagovailoa after 2024.
