After some years of decline, she then had a career resurgence in the 1980s, continuing to create memorable hits.

The Net Worth of Erwin Bach

As of early-2020, Erwin Bach’s net worth is estimated to be over $50 million, earned through a successful career in the music industry, working with various high-profile bands and singers during his career.

He also earns as a music executive, and probably benefits from the success of his wife, as Tina has a net worth reputed to be over $270 million.

Life and Career

At a young age, Erwin developed a love for making music which would lead to his pursuit of a career in the industry. Following his graduating, he began working as a music producer when he signed with EMI Records. The company has been in existence since the 1970s, and is a successor to Parlophone and Columbia Records. Over the years, the company is known to have contracted various high profile acts.

Erwin achieved a steady ascension on the corporate ladder, with successful artists such as Queen, Pink Floyd, and Radiohead.

Eventually, he became the divisional managing director of EMI Germany, staying in that position for several years before moving to Switzerland to become the managing director of EMI Recorded Music Switzerland. During the latter part of his career, he also ventured into film production, and was responsible for creating the Tina Turner biography “Tina Turner – One of the Living”.

Wife – Tina Turner

Anna May Bullock was born in Brownsville Texas, in 1939, but grew up in Nutbush, Tennessee where her father worked on a farm. She is of African-American and European descent. She grew up alongside two older siblings, and were briefly separated from their parents during World War II as the couple served at a defense facility, and live with her grandparents for some time.

After the war she reunited with her parents, later developing an interest in singing especially at a local church. Her mother ran away from home due to domestic abuse, leading to her father remarrying a few years later. The children were then sent back to their grandparents.

During her teenage years, Tina showed an athletic ability, joining the school basketball team at Carver High School, while also being a cheerleader. After her grandmother passed away, she returned to living with her mother, completing her high school education at Sumner High School. After matriculating, she then worked at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital as an aide, but her interest in singing continued to develop, and during a visit to a nightclub, she became impressed by Ike Turner and the Kings of Rhythm.

She asked to join them, but he never called her back.

Rise to Fame – Tina Turner

After getting hold of a microphone during one of the performances of Kings of Rhythm, Ike was surprised at Tina’s singing ability, and this led her to become a vocalist for the band. She began recording music during this period, and was also writing songs. She then recorded a demo that was sent to Sue Records, and its president Juggy Murray was so impressed with Turner’s sound that he bought the rights of the song, while also advising the band to put Tina in the lead. She then adopted her famous name Tina Turner, and created a stage persona based on the name.

In 1960 she released her first hit “A Fool in Love”, which became one of the top-charting songs by a black singer since the release of several Ray Charles tracks. She continued releasing hit songs throughout the 1960s, and touring across the US. Tina and Ike became well-known nationally and turned in a consistent profit. The duo worked with different labels through the mid-1960s, and she also began her foray as a solo artist. In 1966, she signed a deal with Phil Spector, which would help produce some of her most notable hits of the late 1960s to 1970s, including “Nutbush City Limites” and “Proud Mary” – a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s hit.

The Success of Tina Turner

Some of her most popular songs during this period include “River Deep – Mountain High”. She later converted to Nichirin Buddhism and her relationship with Ike which turned into romance turned sour by the late 1970s. With their separation, their music partnership also ended, and they divorced in 1978. After a few years away from making songs, she returned in the 1980s as a solo artist, leading to the solo album “Private Dancer” which was a successful worldwide. She won a Grammy Award for the album and she continued with a streak of multi-platinum hits over the years.

Some of her most notable songs include “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, “I Don’t Wanna Fight” and “Typical Male”. Her songs were used in films such as “Tommy” and “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”. During her career, she’s won 12 Grammy Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award and three Grammy Hall of Fame Awards. She is a part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is considered one of the greatest singers of all time. Much of her music remains popular today, and while she no longer records songs, many films have been produced in honor of her career. She also appears in various high profile events such as the Grammy Awards, and invitational government occasions.

Personal Life

In 1986, Bach was assigned to greet Tina Turner at the Heathrow Airport by EMI and the two developed a friendship then. This blossomed into a romance later in the year, despite him being 16 years younger than her. The two stayed in a relationship, and didn’t marry until 2013, because they didn’t feel the need to do so until then, considering themselves married. Their minds changed and they went to a civil ceremony in Switzerland held at Lake Zurich. Turner credits him as one of her strongest supporters – he even donated a kidney to her after there was a threat of kidney failure brought about by remedies to treat her high blood pressure.
